The real reality check is that JAK inhibitors are a hopeless attempt for Androgenetic Alopecia. Like I already said I respect her as a researcher and the work she has done. Absolutely. However on the front of JAK inhibitors and Androgenetic Alopecia? It's a joke dude, from all angles.

You are so gullible. Let me give you an example.

You read this;

And you parrot it immediately. Yet you said that topical JAK inhibitors work for AA a few posts ago, so tell me how do they don't penetrate properly?

I am no expert on this but when i read about Bret King he had to give oral pills towards the end of his topical trial...

if they work topically then why add in oral meds?

makes no sense that a topical is going to work better than oral pills for AA (Androgenetic Alopecia i dont think its going to work period)

That's interesting. Do you have a link about that? And yeah in certain drugs it can be that a topical would work instead of a oral drug, but certainly not in the case of a JAK inhibitor like tofacitinib.

Well duh? I've been "parroting" her research paper published a year ago. Pay attention.

Less parroting and more thinking would do you good.

Actual scientists with real h-index ratings will be testing both cream and pill forms of tofa and ruxo on patients who actually have Androgenetic Alopecia and in registered, randomized clinical trials. It's how actual science is done not by anonymous gut intuition nailed up on "the internets."

They are going to test pill forms of tofa and ruxo on patients who have Androgenetic Alopecia? Mate, tofa and ruxo oral have been tested on hundreds if not thousands of people with Androgenetic Alopecia already. It doesn't work. We know that since several years already.

Anyway thanks for the discussion, just a pity you literally didn't bring in one valid argument.

It's going to be very painful this. Not only are they going to be able to do much vs Androgenetic Alopecia, they ain't even going to alter the hair cycle to any high degree.

JAK inhibitors won't even touch minoxidil.

Sad stuff, but fortunately we got some other exciting things on the horizon.

You're wasting your time, Swoop.

Ignorance is the tireless guardian of belief, and the person you're talking to, like so many, desperately wants to believe that a topical is going to be the cure that brings a NW7 back to NW1 even though science has shown us at this point that it's just not going to happen.

If I'm interpreting the English on this properly, it sounds like you're not sure, either. No worries, they will apply the scientific method before jumping to any premature conclusions, like you've done already. Additionally, I think it's possible Christiano's serendipitous discovery wrt jax might even lead to an eventual blockbuster drug for Androgenetic Alopecia. In the mean time, Tsuji's mouse could do with a fur coat a la topical ruxo.

Sad stuff, but fortunately we got some other exciting things on the horizon.

I'm pulling for Tsuji, too. He sounds like a serious researcher. Let's hope his mice stop shivering and grow thick coats of hair, like Christiano's mice did over a year ago. ;)

You do realize that they could give that mouse a full coat of hair if they wanted to, right?

Yeah, that mouse.

What the hell is your point?

The emperor's mouse hath very few clothes on. Did you ever stop and think it might be an embarrassment to lab mice everywhere? No, you only think of yourself, we know. ;)

The one thing that is extremely telling in that interview is

"Some men, however, say they suffer psychologically from losing their hair, especially if it's at a young age."

If by "some" you mean "shitloads", then yes. Even in this article, we have to downplay it like it's no big f*****g deal and it's just a handful of insecure pussies crying about it right after we had the subject of our interview speak about how much baldness devastated him.

Just like some people suffer psychologically from getting cancer... right?

The f*****g disrespect towards baldness is unreal... ANYTHING to keep bald men down to Propecia up fullheads and their precious social standing.

@NewUser, your optimism concerning JAK inhibitors for Androgenetic Alopecia is legendary. For all our sake I hope your faith is well placed.

My faith is with science not gut intuition or "spidey sense". It is Christiano's own opinion that jax have a 50-50 chance of working for Androgenetic Alopecia. It will be a short "go-no go" time with respect to testing for efficacy in Androgenetic Alopecia. Clinical trials take time and money - I'm guessing three years for completing up to and including most of phase 2. There are no shortcuts in science.

Christiano has taken this drug as far as she can in studying the effects on hair growth. She does not have deep pockets. She is a starving researcher as the saying goes. She can not topicalize or re-purpose these drugs herself. They are patented drugs period. I don't buy the tired line that says Christiano is shirking some kind of ethical duty to test these drugs for Androgenetic Alopecia on her own. Anyone saying so is full of sh*t.

Before the deal with Aclaris was struck, she said there would have to be a delivery method designed to allow the drug to penetrate human scalp with a layer of fat and several thicknesses or skin. Human skin is quite a bit thicker than that of mice. Also, the drug can't be properly tested if it penetrates but stays around the area of follicles for only 5 minutes. It will take some creative expertise to design a topical that will do the job. Have faith in science to tell us if jax can do anything for Androgenetic Alopecia. Anything less is conjecture and heresay and not worth much.

The problem is you are damn ignorant. What do you actually know about "science"? Do you know anything about hair follicle biology at all? Do you know anything about drugs at all in the slightest sense? You don't. Your messages tell all.

This is no gut intuition of me. To know if this works I only have to figure out if these oral JAK inhibitors exert their biological activity sufficiently at the cells of the hair follicle. That's all I need to do. And I can do that through observations and the data we already have on these JAK inhibitors.

I couldn't be so vocal and sure about this if it was another drug for instance SAG like she tested in her study, because I would lack both observations and data.

Ignorance is bliss I guess :D.
