NewUser, so why didn't that guy who reversed his AA grow his frontal, Androgenetic Alopecia hairloss back?

@NewUserThis is no gut intuition of me. To know if this works I only have to figure out if these oral JAK inhibitors exert their biological activity sufficiently at the cells of the hair follicle. That's all I need to do. And I can do that through observations and the data we already have on these JAK inhibitors..

Sorry, kiddo, there are no shortcuts in science (or engineering). I appreciate your enthusiasm for things scientific. I'm sure a full-year university course in discrete math and logic would not be wasted on you. You've definitely got the moxie just short on muscle is all.

No one knows why at this point. Right now I think scientists are still amazed that he grew back any hair and especially so because he was suffering from two completely different types of alopecias not just one.

I am not sure how amazing it is because autoimmune disease is about the body attacking itself...so you take a drug that knocks back your immune system the body can stop attacking itself...this is what they do with steroids..Steroids also work on a lot of people with AA but you take them indefinitely your bones 'could' become brittle.

The fact it's working so well for people with AU and AT is fantastic..but they will still lose hair when they stop taking the jak inhibitor
and long term side effects have not been studied yet..I think 2019 this long term study from FDA comes out on the rhuetoid medication.

There is also a drug a lot of AA people talk about that is working for some called LDN (the 'N' is a drug for people who are additied to alcohol and drugs i think its surpassing nervous system a bit for withdrawals) but its hit or miss...some people just take simple allergy medication (allegra) and have good response again hit or miss.

I think its great stride for AA but ONLY if they make this into an equally effective topical that can be used long term.

I am not sure how amazing it is because...

Personally, I think it's amazing that the 47 year-old male named Thomas grew any hair back at all. I have never met anyone with both AA and Androgenetic Alopecia, but I'm fairly certain the "big three" would do very little for either AA or Androgenetic Alopecia in his case. 66 patients including Thomas were on oral jakinibs(inferior to topical jax according to Christiano's lab tests) for just 3 months before stopping treatment. If he had been taking "the big three" only, it's likely a microscope would have been needed to observe regrowth and likely only vellus hairs at that.

PS its not going to do 'jak' for Androgenetic Alopecia ;)

It's a good thing you're not a scientist saying this because if you were, then I'd be worried for jax' sake. ;)

The problem is you are damn ignorant. What do you actually know about "science"? Do you know anything about hair follicle biology at all? Do you know anything about drugs at all in the slightest sense? You don't. Your messages tell all.

This is no gut intuition of me. To know if this works I only have to figure out if these oral JAK inhibitors exert their biological activity sufficiently at the cells of the hair follicle. That's all I need to do. And I can do that through observations and the data we already have on these JAK inhibitors.

I couldn't be so vocal and sure about this if it was another drug for instance SAG like she tested in her study, because I would lack both observations and data.

Ignorance is bliss I guess :D.

Swoop it's really hard to take you seriously when your dumb avatar is your bloated roid tits and orange tan. If you think that looks good, or that people are impressed, you're a douchebag.

Otherwise I like your posts. Sorry, it's been bugging me for years.

At least we don't have to look at your dumb gelled hair anymore.

Im meeting with one of Christianos research partners who is also a general dermatologist Monday at Columbia U to try and get a more clear diagnosis.. i will ask her about the topical vs the oral.

Some people never cease to amaze me. Everything you say speaks for yourself really. Like I said more thinking would do you good. It's amazing you are that much older than me but speak like a 18 year old. Regarding university, I have been pretty blessed. I finished c*m laude through the highest possible education in my country with relatively little effort. Then again it says nothing. There are many many people that are way smarter than you and me without any education whatsoever.

It's a good thing you're not a scientist saying this because if you were, then I'd be worried for jax' sake.

Argumentum ad verecundiam. But even then the funny thing is that Cotsarelis, Brett King and Hoffman give JAK's literally little to no chance of working. Hoffman, who is considered a elite hair follicle biology scientist in the field literally gives it a 1/10 chance of working. There's that.

If you can't take me seriously with this avatar then perhaps you should stop having preconceptions. Off course I think it looks good lol or else I wouldn't work towards a proper physique. That's why I work out after all to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see. Aside from the fact that exercising is healthy.

That's why I rather don't want to be a high norwood baldite either, since it wouldn't make me particularly happy.

Regarding other people... I have gotten extremely much positive feedback for my physique through the years. It's nice knowing that, but not my primary motivation to work out in the first place.

You are off course entitled to your own opinion though! HATER :D!

If Jax work for not only one hairloss disorder but two, it would mean all of Cotsarelis' patents and all of Hoffman's work would be for nought Sadly, they would be penultimate losers in the Angela Christiano Open challenge to solve at least one major hairloss disorder. I imagine it would be a difficult thing for them to admit they don't know jax about something they've studied for years without reward.

And beaten by a woman not once but twice? Some men couldnt handle it I suppose. In some countries they teach everyone that females are mentally inferior to men. That , too, flies in the face of science with respect to human biology.

That's very strange considering that both Hoffman and Cotsarelis deem Androgenetic Alopecia to be irreversible at a certain timepoint. Both of them are implicated in commercial ventures. Hoffman with Replicel/Shisheido and Cotsarelis with Setipiprant and Follica. Doesn't make sense at all. As if they would have some sort of "magical power" to stop Aclaris anyway. It's going to be tested whether they want it or not. Put your tinfoil hat off.

My discussion with you is over. Your baldite temples ain't going to regrow from this 100%. That's for sure. Time will show you.

So topical JAK inhibitors work for AA?

Aclaris will be devloping a topical formula and oral pill for AA. And they will be testing them both for AA in large scale, randomized clinical trials. Lots of time and money involved. They may test the same topical for Androgenetic Alopecia, or they may develop something different. But I'm not afraid to admit that I don't know. And I can't possibly know at this point. None of us can.

I see now youve changed your tune from one of, ~It aint gone grow nuthin to that of Well, it won't re-grow 100%, is that right? If so, your attitude toward science is improving. Good show.

I think I made myself clear. JAK inhibitors won't work at all. They will be nowhere as good as minoxidil. Which by definition is sh*t anno 2016.

Want to bet?

My $1000 vs your $100. Giving you 1/10 odds in your favor here. Pretty damn +EV for you if you think the chances are 50/50.

What do you say?

Ok now it is clear what you meant to say after mincing your words above. I don't need your allowance money, kid. Just let actual scientists do their jobs.

Buy a brain somewhere mate.

If she and King were so confident, they wouldn't have held a call with admin here and asked if forum members have tried them.

That was pretty damn comical too lol. Asking if members have tried topical JAK inhibitors. It's a pity I wasn't on that call. I would gladly wipe the floor with Aclaris and Christiano on this matter.

This is second time you used the fact Christiano is a woman as 'why' people have issue with her predictions/science.

And i am a woman and I'm no shrinking violet-i have no issue calling out sexism--WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

It's really insulting to me AS A WOMAN you keep doing this.

You can't just throw out assumptions like that on people randomly.

Long term Androgenetic Alopecia does cause atrophy or fibrosis..Basically long term Androgenetic Alopecia can become scaring over time.
I only know this because i just did so much research on scarring alopecia and they say sometimes the pathology it can look like long term Androgenetic Alopecia with the fibrous fibers. I am assuming that is scar tissue. (I'm not a science person).
