Combining Prox-N with minoxidil and spironolactone? - Unsolved

Hello,
How would I go about using minoxidil (Xandrox 5%) with Prox-N, can I use Prox-N and apply Xandrox a minute later?
Is it ok to use Prox-N on a completely dry scalp?
Do I have to massage the liquid into the scalp or can I just put it on and leave it like that to dry?
I have Dr Lee's 5% spironolactone cream, how much time after applying Prox-N can I put it on?
Prox-N comes with some sort of dropper, however, I can't seem to know nor feel the drops on my scalp because I have a lot of hair overall so I can't possibly know how many drops I'm putting there, how do you measure 5ml out of Prox-N?
Thanks :)

Hi Very Tired -

I don't see a problem applying your minoxidil straight after the Prox-N as the more expensive prescription version of Prox-N being proxiphen has minoxidil in it anyway.

Re the dry scalp - I'm pretty sure this wouldn't matter either, although directions do say to apply to a wet scalp to assist with absorbtion.

I'd apply the Prox-N followed by the minoxidil and then wait 15-20 minutes before putting on any spironolactone.

You can get droppers with measurements on them - as a standard rule 1 eye dropper full equals 1ml though....

others may have other advice for you

good luck

I can't spread the drops of prox in far enough, so I just put 1-2 mL of prox-N in most of my topicals. You just don't want to mix minoxidil and spironolactone, and I think caffine reacts with one of those too. I hope nothing else reacts. I think solubility competition is the main concern.

In the instructions it says I should put on minoxidil at a different time than Prox-N, also, although spironolactone doesn't react well with minoxidil Dr. Lee explains that applying spironolactone a minute after applying minoxidil helps the absorbtion of both and the time of interaction between the two is too short for it to get ruined. Also, i have a dropper but Prox-N has its own dropper attached, should i tear it off? I'd appreciate some answers from experienced Prox-N users. Thanks a lot.

I put 30-75 drops of prox-N in my minoxidil and other topicals of 60mL each. Just can't spread the prox-N otherwise. I need at least 2mL per application to get a good spread.

CCS,
30-75 drops of prox-n in your topicals? That's a large gap, did you mean 70-75? I know you have a few topicals, how much do you put in your minoxidil?

FYI,

Proxiphen has only 1% minoxidil and 1% has never been shown to be effective. 2% has.

Why waste your time and money.

Either use Dr Lees spironolactone cream before the Xandrox like he says so and stay on it to see if it's effective or just use proxiphen.

No one know what will happen to the properties of these chemicals if they are mixed.
Certainly a good question for someone qualified as Dr Lee himself.

First of all, they're talking about Prox-N, not Proxiphen. Prox-N doesn't contain minoxidil.

Second of all, last time I checked, Proxiphen contains 2% minoxidil.

Third of all, I can show you a study in which even 1% topical minoxidil had some surprisingly good results.

Ok Prox guardian, you can go ahead and do so but that may be ONE study, with the emphasis on "one." Why would anyone want to use 1 or 2% minoxidil when 5 % is clearly more effective. Are you still using it now? (Proxiphen) Did your crown ever fill in? I know the pics are almost 10 yrs old.

Thanks a lot.

what do you mean by that? spironolactone doesn't react well with minoxidil? I thought that was the point of the two that they worked so well together. And wouldn't applying spironolactone right after minoxidil make for a horrible smell? I'm curious because i use the two.

No. Dr Lee stated that if you mix the 2, in which he has in his experiementation, the spironolactone and minoxidil, it will produce a very noxious smell.

What is so hard about applying it?

You can apply both to your scalp but you can't have both of them held in the same container.. from Dr. Lee's research:

"Do not combine medications containing spironolactone and minoxidil in the same container. The medications slowly react with each other, resulting in a compromise of their pharmacological activities. However, since it requires many hours for spironolactone and minoxidil to chemically react with each other, they can be consecutively applied to the scalp without compromising each other."

Can anyone answer my previous reply though?

I think 30 drops of prox-N is 1mL, but it might be more drops, if the drops are smaller than minxodil drops.

I say 30-75 because I don't know and don't care. The stuff is expensive, and CP's can take their time as far as I care.

Avoiding the earlier question, I see.

So then it is safe to conclude the proxiphen didnt grow back your crown???

I've never used Proxiphen in a consistent enough fashion to know if it would improve my crown.
