I don't know that she's ever provided data for how fast that occurs, or any other specifics.

Bryan, Dr. P have said in some posts that finasteride doubles AR receptors on the scalp, is this just a hypothesis?

I've never heard that specific number mentioned before. Maybe he has some inside information. Can you find any of those posts?

This is what he wrote:
"Several factors limit the action of "antiandrogens" such as finasteride. First, reflex hyperandrogenicity limits the action of antiandrogens. In the case of finasteride, this means a 14% or so increase in circulating testosterone and almost a doubling of tissue androgen receptors. Reflex hyperandrogenicity can even overshoot and produce paradoxical hyperandrogenic symptoms in patients taking finasteride."

The topic is called "Finasteride/Dutasteride not working for you?" and is under antiandrogens board.

It certainly sounds like a plausible number to me, I just wish I knew where he got it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what exactly does this mean in plain English? Does it mean that it is possible that finasteride can actually make one's hairloss worse?
