While shedding can often be a sign of hair loss, it isn't always a good indication. E.g. you can not shed any hair and still be losing ground with the hair miniaturizing, while you can also shed a ton of hair and not be losing ground (like a lot of women). There's a very good chance that minoxidil would help thicken everything up, but it depends on if you're willing to commit to it or not. Personally I don't use minoxidil because even though it would most definitely help out, I'm not willing to spend 10-15 minutes twice a day putting it on for the rest of my life. Where as I don't mind "popping the pill" once a day with finasteride.
I see brownish flakes on my scalp . They are small but hard to remove. I guess it's dandruff. But I'm being washing it with coal tar shampoo still it's not gone. So I'm worried that it is dry scalp and I'm making the condition more worse. What are your thoughts?

Thank u bro.. I really apreciate that.. my thoughts are similar to urs . Even I can't take the risk of the shed due to minoxidil and I'm afraid that minoxidil stops working and all the hair are gone!! I'm currently on 15 days of finasteride.. would finasteride only regrow my temple hair? There are still small hair so I'm not completely bald from temples. I want to stay on finasteride only

Finasteride can regrow hair and thicken it up, but for the most part it's just to maintain what you already have. Finasteride for maintaining, Minoxidil for regrowing. I also have the same small miniturized hair around my hairline, it's unlikely that finasteride will regrow much if anything from the hairline, if you're willing to use minoxidil every day for the rest of your life (or until you're willing to go bald or get a transplant) then I would recommend starting it and not being too worried about the shed as it's likely that you'll shed with finasteride anyways.
