It just hit me, but this summer, my sking under my hair was sun burned a couple of times. Well my hair was already thin enough to help sun penetrate and burn my skin. I was wondering though, could this sunburn facilliate additional thinning? Could it have "killed" some of my hair follicles?

Just wandering...

the sun can hurt transplanted follicles, though, probably due to the change in healing and scaring that uv light can do to fresh wounds.

I shaved my head this summer as male pattern baldness was getting itchier than ever in the heat, I ended up burning my head.. the itching became so bad that it was almost unbearable.. I worried that I'd damaged my hair and since it has grown back it is definately much thinner, this could easily just be what I would've lost anyway though, I was going thru a particularly bad patch. Anyway.. I wouldn't have been suprised if someone had said that it was bad for the hair.

I get sunburn on my scalp last summer. It wasn't a bad sunburn(tightness scalp) but my scalp was red.It doesn't cause hair loss in my case.

You may want to check out hairsite.com ... they posted a study on photoaggraved dermatotis may well be linked to male pattern baldness... i believe its in the topical section...
