Could Creatine Cause Hairloss

Was wondering if using creatine could accelerate hair loss. A couple of studies have shown that it increases DHT levels but I'm not sure how reliable and accurate those are. Would it be alright if one is taking finasteride along with creatine, would the creatine really even make a difference then ?

My guess, and this is just as someone that's pretty up on both fitness and science -- but not an "expert" by any means, is that it probably doesn't accelerate hair loss. That's not to say some studious fellow baldy won't be able to poke holes in my following assessment, but here's my take. Steroids obviously accelerate hair loss because you're injecting additional testosterone into your system that cannot be created naturally and thus that testosterone is converted into additional DHT that will join the battle in choking off your hair follicles that are genetically predisposed to thinning.

Creatine, as I understand it to be, is a supplement that aids in ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production. ATP is what gives living organisms energy. So what creatine is designed to do is turn that 6 reps of 300lbs (or 136.078kg for you metric system weirdoes) into 8 or 9 reps -- which are going to be key in building that Spartan warrior chest all men desire to have. Steroids, along with boosting T levels, also aid in recovery time. A friend of mine at the gym that often used to do steroid cycles could do leg day 3 times in a single week. As far as I know creatine can't do that. Basically, I don't think creatine accelerates hair loss, and if it does it is very minor.

Creatine increases DHT so there is a good chance it accelerates male pattern baldness, it could be ok if you're on finasteride though, but I wouldn't play with fire if I were you.

I'm not speaking from a scientific perspective but I have a few ENORMOUS friends who use creatine like there was no tomorrow. Not one of them is balding so far, however I've never met any of their families (or enough men) to know if the gene runs in their family in the first place.

it can increase dht by ~60% so yeah if you are prone to male pattern baldness it will accelerate it

It raised dht by 50% at 20 grams a day. There is a study that was done on lacrosse players that was published. If you google around you'll find it
