Could Rogaine affect hair growth in future?

Reading about minoxidil it is impressive the way that it has helped a lot of people. I am considering going on it, however I was wondering about the reliability a user has towards minoxidil. As soon as you start using minoxidil you are effectively a slave to it for the rest of your life. This is because your hairs become reliant on minoxidil. I was wondering, what if some new product down the line was discovered for male pattern baldness, how would a mans reliance on minoxidil effect his hair's response to this new product. Surely if a head of hair is reliant on minoxidil, this can only work against you with regards to a new product? I know people may say, ' but there is no new product,' but there is progress being made all the time, and it is hard to say.


Has anyone here used minoxidil with success, then stopped treatment and noticed the huge difference that we are warned about? Just wondering on peoples opinions, would love to hear what you think on the reliance of minoxidil.

I've always viewed Rogaine similar to weight-lifting - if you start out as a weakling and begin to lift weights you will build muscle tone. If you stop, you'll gradually go back to your former self. Rogaine will help hair follicles - it may allow some very atrophied follicles to produce better hair. But it's a 'forced' improvement and the follicle is dependent on the minoxidil. However, if some new treatment came along that only required once a week usage, I'm sure the minoxidil improved hairs would do just fine. But the 'magical hormone cream' with no side effects is always 5 years away, it's been that way for the past 25 years.

Yes. People, who had switched from minoxidil to finasteride, were losing hair very quickly. There is no substitute for minoxidil at this moment. But the dependance is still a negligible issue. It is certainly better to be dependent on minoxidil than to be bald.

I've seen people say that lots and lots of times, but I'm not completely sure if they understand the details. You do understand, don't you, that stopping the use of topical minoxidil after a long period of time causes you to lose all the extra hair that it caused you to grow, going back to the way you would have been, had you never used it at all?

Dude's need to realize that you have to continue to take ANY baldness treatment (including finasteride/dutasteride) continuously to maintain results/gains. It's not just minoxidil.... which is like fertilizer for your hair follicles.

I know this but finasteride doesnt agree with me and I havent tried dutasteride, will I have the same problem with dutasteride as I did with finasteride? If not I am going to try S5 Cream with Min.
