Crown balding?

I've always had a visible crown area, ever since childhood (I'm 17 now, and have been balding for almost 2 years). I have something that I guess hairdressers and whatnot call either a double or a triple crown (I'm not entirely sure nowadays, and my memory of the back of my head only goes so far).
This basically means that I have more than just one "hair whorl" or "cowlick" or "crown" at the top crown area of my head.

This never really bothered me much, because it wasn't readily apparent before my eyes (though it was always annoying to think about). However, now that I've thinned out, I've noticed my bald spot (visible scalp) in this area is now pretty damn noticeable. I'd post pictures if I could get a good one, but I'm in bed about to sleep and I can't manage to aim my phone the right way. Suffice it to say, it's noticeably bad.

My query is, does anyone know why Rogaine foam may not be doing much for me in this area? For awhile it was such that Rogaine was directed to only be used on the crown balding. Yet, I've used it there for as long as I've used Rogaine (over a year now), and this seems to be the only place that has had no result whatsoever except further thinning.

I pretty much always sleep on my back with my head up, so its definitely likely that there is traction between my crown and the pillow. But I never thought that traction like that could actually speed hair loss, I thought that was just a myth, since it has no affect on the internal cause of male pattern baldness.

Barring that, I really can't imagine why this area is so much more visibly progressed than other areas, even after proper Rogaine use for over a year. Perhaps its a combination of the traction and the cowlicks and the thinning. I do not know. If anyone has any idea on that, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I know what could help. Try either emu oil or folligen in addition to your rogaine. Those topicals on their own can't do much, but they do a wonderful job cleansing the scalp and thickening the hair and reducing inflammation--perfect environment for rogaine to do its business. I know hard because it's coming on so young, but I know those products will help
