I’ve noticed a receding hairline for a while, but just noticed for the first time that my crown is thinning pretty significantly...how much should I worry?

That's more than crown thinning man. Research the big 3 and see if it's worth it for you. With the amount of hair you still have you would probably see solid results.

Yeah that’s the plan...funny how this just creeps up on a person all of a sudden.

So another question...I’ve gone from a perfectly “normal” looking crown to what you see in the pics over the past 4 months. I’ve researched telogen effluvium (Telogen Effluvium), and my symptoms seem to line up with that. I’ve also got underlying male pattern baldness, which I’ve been aware of for years, but it has so far only mildly affected my hairline. I’ve got no family history of serious male pattern baldness on either side, and Im thinking it’s Telogen Effluvium because of the extreme pace of the loss. I’ve read it’s triggered by stressful conditions....and for the past 4 months I’ve been deployed to Afghanistan, my dad died, mt girlfriend dumped me, and a good friend of mine died. Not trying to have a sob story, but it’s been a highly stressful and shitty few months, seeing if anyone with more knowledge of Telogen Effluvium could weigh in...thoughts?

Are you able to see a derm? They would know best regarding male pattern baldness vs Telogen Effluvium. Stress definitely can cause Telogen Effluvium but you can also see a pretty classic male pattern baldness pattern, which may have been exacerbated due to your past few months. Either way, would recommend seeing a derm, and thank you for your service.

Congrats on serving your country.....very early stages of crown loss....with meds and luck you could possibly reverse that fully.....your hairline is barely receding im mu opinion.
