"I think it’s reasonable to suppose that one could oscillate between being biologically 20 and biologically 25 indefinitely."-- Aubrey de Grey

Time may indeed be on your side. If you can just last another quarter century.

By then, people will start lives that could last 1,000 years or more. Our human genomes will be modified to include the genetic material of microorganisms that live in the soil, enabling us to break down the junk proteins that our cells amass over time and which they can’t digest on their own. People will have the option of looking and feeling the way they did at 20 for the rest of their lives, or opt for an older look if they get bored. Of course, everyone will be required to go in for age rejuvenation therapy once every decade or so, but that will be a small price to pay for near-immortality.

This may sound like science fiction, but Aubrey de Grey thinks this could be our reality in as little as 25 years.

If this technology comes out tomorrow, will the government stop it, and a board of philosophers try to force their worries on us? What about over population and limited resources? Who gets the treatment, and who is asked to die of natural causes? Would there be a big fight over this right, or would they just jack up the price indefinitely, even if the process is cheap? Do you think the country that invented it would keep it, and maybe treat a few rich people from other countries, and let the other countries "curb their own populations"?

I think it would be funny to sit back and watch all this, even if i don't get to have it. Or maybe it would not be so funny. :(

one nice thing is you are no longer born into appearance leagues. even if you are ugly as a teenager, you just have to do well in school or a business and make money, and you can buy health and looks later at age 30, and not care how old you are then because you will look 20. who cares if child hood sucks. yeah, it is sad. but you will get over it when you are 30. and most kids don't have sex anyway. they play games and do other stuff.

They will fix the aging before the balding, so we'll have to go around bald for 970 years instead of 30-40..

That would be the end of the world.

If scientists find a way to enable people to leave about 1.000 the world would be overpopulated and the resources wouldn´t last for everyone.

Jobs wont be available for everyone and most of the people would be starving...crime rates would rise drastically.

Please stop that :freaked2:

Lol, why would you want to live that long?

I value life but i dont think it would be worth living 1000 years. Anyone seen the green mile? You might outlive everyone you know and love just like in the movie

not if they also live 1000 years. i guess they could die too. you could still outlive the ones you love if you don't live 1000 years. And you could commit suicide if it is that bad. Living 1000 years would be awsome, if you can live it right. overpopulation is the only issue.

I just hope it stays fresh after 500 years. "Dude I just banged a 500 year old. It was the best pussy I ever had, man she sucked the sheet right into my ***."

no more "yeah, I finally got buff, but now I'm 30 and have a few tiny wrinkles". Instead, "I'm in great shape and have 15 year old skin for 950 more years."

I wish I could have the time I spent reading that back. He didnt say 1 single specific thing that helps. What on earth is he talking about? He isnt even a molecular biologist, doctor, or anyone that would be believable. Science cant cure almost any disease and he thinks hes going to reverse one of the most complicated diseases ever known that has existed throughout all of time? OK guy.

SCIENTISTS have created a “miracle mouseâ€￾ that can regenerate amputated limbs or badly damaged organs, making it able to recover from injuries that would kill or permanently disable normal animals.
The experimental animal is unique among mammals in its ability to regrow its heart, toes, joints and tail.

The researchers have also found that when cells from the test mouse are injected into ordinary mice, they too acquire the ability to regenerate.

The ability to regenerate tissues and limbs in its most robust form is seen in many non-mammalian species. The serendipitous discovery that the MRL mouse has a profound capacity for regeneration in some ways rivalling the classic newt and axolotl species raises the possibility that humans, too, may have an innate regenerative ability.
