Hey Trucking10

here is a way you can find out. Take a white printer paper and vigerously rub your head with your hands until hair fall on the paper. Than look at the hairs on the paper if they are all the same thickness than it is Telogen Effluvium but if there is thinning hairs to almost dead hairs than it is male pattern baldness. Look at my pics http://photos.yahoo.com/rags2377 it is the same exact thing as yours and I went to the Doctor who said it is not male pattern baldness than one said it is and so on.... so in conclusion they really dont know sh*t and i would say if you can afford it get on propecia.... IT WONT HURT.

In fact having seen "Need Helps" hair pics before... i thought it was the same guy... yep you two are in the same boat...

I agree i think alot of Docs dont really know when it comes to hairloss... there's general signs and i think you both realistically have male pattern baldness. Proscar all the way...

That I'm aware of, Telogen Effluvium can be caused by having too much of a stressload and not knowing how to respond to it. Do you have allot on your plate right now? A GP probably is NOT the kind of Doctor that you need to check with about this. The proper diagnosis depends on matching up with the proper Doctor and his/her qualifications.

well yea i mean i have gone through alot of phsycological problems, with stress, anxitey and depression for the last year which i bring on my self. 7 months ago i thought i had cancer so that was about 2 months of torture. And since then i become some what of a hypochondriat or however you spell it. But ive seen a specialist at UCLA and he thought i have Telogen Effluvium, then i got a free consltation at a hair transplant place and by using a video microscope, it looked like my hair on the sides was more dense then my top and healthier??? make any sense ...any ideas from now on ?

Wow! Let me first say that I'm amazed that the free consultation didn't recommend that you get a hair transplant:) It sounds like how you're responding to the stress in your life is taking it's toll...on your hair:(

I disagree with everyone here. From the looks of the pictures, I'd say you have male pattern baldness, just like all of us.

Luckily, things arent' too bad yet. Get on the proven treatments, and soon.

Telogen Effluvium = teleogen effluvium = shedding

hair grows for many months then sheds... usually this is random and unnoticable but with stressors (severe stress, medical illness, medication side effect, sudden weight loss....) hairs shed as a group, called Telogen Effluvium. as the follicle isnt damaged it should grow back if it is due to Telogen Effluvium. Telogen Effluvium may be very diffuse, while male pattern baldness is usually crown, temples, vertex.
