I think heard you should not do this. What is the reason why?

It depends. If you don't go too short, you can, but be very very careful.

Two things happen, in my experience (I have done it).

The comb (never use bare blades) can catch the lace (if you are cutting lace) and cause the lace to be cut as well as not cutting evenly.

The the hair is too short, it starts to go in different directions, and won't look right.

I have done it to do a short back and sides, but never went shorter than a #2.

Sorry if I have asked this before but not sure if its be answered. But if you went to a salon do you tell them beforehand you are wearing or when your their...just seems like it could potentially be an embarrassing situation.

I use normal hairdressing scissors, thinning shears, small nail scissors and a Mach 3 razor to cut in, style and blend all my full cap wigs.

Sounds pretty dangerous. Just go to a hairsalon, barber, supercuts. It doesn't matter.

Since I go to a salon that specializes in hairpieces, I can tell you they would NEVER apply Wahl clippers or the like to a piece. But on the sides of my bio hair is a different story....
