Dark circles under eyes

Been on finasteride for a month and have horrible bags under my eyes. I am 90% sure they are caused by finasteride. I have started using this cream which has a lot of beneficial ingredients in it but what else can I do. I am seeing ym dermatologist soon. I mean why would finasteride do this? Because as soon as I discover the cause an appropriate treatment could be utilised.

This is one side effect I have noticed, I have dark circles under my eyes and also bags, I have read a lot of people get this from finasteride and minoxidil.

I have tried dark circle cream L'oreal MenExpert which slightly improves the appearance and read warm damp tea bags or cucumber can help but I haven't tried this.....yet

i have the dark circles too, but maybe its unrelated to propecia? It is allergy season. I also went to my doctor and he said that its unrelated to propecia. Also, dr rassman days the same thing on baldingblog that hes never seen this side effect with his patients. just use cucumbers, that works well, ive been doing it the last couple weeks, it feels weird but it works. Or else, you could always stop taking propecia and lose your hair, but myabe the dark circles might get improved

Yeah well she went to oxford so she really knows her stuff and she's private. I am seeing her next week but she did have a telephone conversation wtih me. Some girls get this side effect when on the pill so I confirmed with her that is the hormone imbalence in my bloodstream which is causing this. Basically due to the increased eostrogen in ym bloodstream this has happened. If it was to resolve it would take 6 months anyway because thats how long this skin takes to repair itself? Anyway I am using Circle Clear by skin doctors and camofalgue cream at the moment. When I see her she mentioned she will be able to give me some bleaching cream from America which is FDA approved and I will discuss the issue with her in more detail and mention that drug Amderix? .. something like that .. begins with A .. some users on this forum take it to reduce eostrogen? Anyway I will report back after I see her.

does any of the eye cream stuff your using now work? Also do you have any other side effects besides dark circles, sexual sides or decreased libido or anything? Because it seems odd that shed prescribe the drug arimidex just for the dark circles. Lemme know

I wanted to post this too because I see a lot of people complaining that their sides could be from increased estrogen when in fact after researching it online ive found from credible sources that estrogen is actually beneficial to the skin. google it, i'll bet you cant find a site that says estrogen is bad for your skin. Says it helps maintain thickness and prevent wrinkles and so on. So i dont know why this happens sometimes while on propecia but it may be just coincidental. Maybe bring this point up when you see her, see what she has to say. Thanks

It says it will take about 6 weeks to see any results. Probably just a marketing scam but I will continue using it twice a day. It is Circle Clear by Skin Doctors. Apparently it got the best reviews in magazines etc. I will bring the points up when I see her and I will also discuss the possibility that minoxidil is causing it simply because I started the big 3 at the same time. I don't think it is min; I think it is down to finasteride simply due to the hormone imbalence which is said to cause dark circles. I don't see the science behind min causing dark circles. I hope it is the min simply because I could stop it and just get a hair transplant on my receeding hairline. I haven't experienced any other side effects what so ever while being on the big 3, I have decided to update my story every 2 months so check back on my story in a month.

sounds good man, good luck with your regimen. Lemme know when you get back from the Doctor what she says...But also ive read a ton of complaints on the forum from people having similar reaction from minoxidil so it very well could be the case.

person, I had it when I first started taking finasteride, but it gradually went away.

I believe it was caused by hormone imbalance as well.

Hey person, im about 3 and 1/2 months in and i have to say that the dark circles have started to diminish over the past couple weeks. I also use origins no puffery every so often so that might have helped too. They are really not noticeable anymore. Could just be some fluid retention, not actual skin pigment changes, try cucumbers under there too for about a week, see if it helps

Dogs3 what is your regimen? Just finasteride? I am seeing the dermatologist today and will go into the issue in mroe detail. But from what you and RaginDemon have to say on the matter I feel quite confident that this side-effect will dimminish over time.

Yeah as for right now and the past 3 months its only been finasteride every day and nizoral once or twice a week. The dark circles dont really seem to be and issue anymore and im pretty confident now that with continued use of this drug your body gets used to its effects. So since the sides are stable with finasteride now im gonna jump on the foam this week too. Ive heard that rogaine can do the same but i'll just keep and eye on it and see what happens. Tell us what the derm says too when you get back. Thanks.

I've had dark circles for ages... they seemed to get more prominent and darker when I started finasteride, but that was also at a fairly stressful time for me as well. I'm also aware that some users claim to get a slight rash under their eyes, which has also come and gone occasionally.

Now they don't seem to be as dark or prominent - definitely still there, but since quitting smoking and maintaining a very active cardio regimen, they have noticeably improved. My eyes also seem to sparkle more and the whites are very bright...

So now I'm not sure if they were caused, or even affected by finasteride at all. It's easy to blame something like finasteride for every unexplainable symptom, but I'd like to know for real whether these claims have any real backing. Still very much undecided on the matter.... :dunno:

I ride a bicycle to work 4 - 5 days a week - 25mins per trip. I also make my own cardio workouts with 16oz boxing gloves and skipping usually twice per week. I try and mix it up a bit because I'm really sick of running.

I saw the dermatologist, she stated that minoxidil is very unlikely to be the cause and it is porbably finasteride. Due to the increased eostrogen this has occured like when girls go on the pill which significantly raises eostrogen levels. So i will continue to use lightening cream. She said I should come back in six months and if they haven't shown improvement she will get some bleachign cream from america. I personally want to decreases my eotrogen levels as well so I may purchase Grape Seed extract soon.
