I ran out of finasteride. I placed an order almost two weeks back, but it has yet to arrive. It might be another week or two before that package hits my doorstep.

Crap. Its my own damned fault.

Will a two week hiatus impact me a few months down the line? Will my hair survive? I'm still gonna be hittin that minoxidil daily, but I think the finasteride was startin to do somethin. I'd hate to have a major setback. I dont think my hair can take it!

go to a dermatologist, get a perscription, take it to the drug store, and get the stuff, all in one hour. no set-back.

You should be fine for 2 weeks, I believe finasteride works for up to a month after it was last taken and 2 weeks once it binds to 5ar.

You might want to add folligen to your regimen if your hair starts falling out that quickly after running out...

Yes, I'm a biased folligen junkie.... never used anything else and I'm sticking to it. May even start selling it to supply my habit :roll:

Except the huge hole that would put in my wallet. $80 to see a derm, then pay full prescription price for finasteride. Ouch.

I missed about a week once, no biggie. I have been told that finasteride is in your system for two weeks anyways.

K question so if u stop taking finasteride all the hair u gained while taking it just falls out? also i see u guys are ordering this stuff online isnt it perscription drugs? how do they verifie u have a perscription? im going to my dermatologist this friday to get my perscription for propecia

Flux, if you are in a panic state, perhaps there are people in your area on this forum which could lend you a few pills. I see you are in sillicon valley. If you were in florida, I would do that for you. Kinda a stretch but what the hell. There are many posters on this forum from all over the world.

If its true that finasteride stays in your system for up to 2 weeks once you stop taking it, why dont we just take our 1/4 finasteride like twice a week or something? Wouldnt taking it everyday be an overload? Just an idea....

Sadsad, no. If you stop finasteride, your hairloss will just resume as if you had hit the pause button. If you stop taking minoxidil, then your gains (and maintains) fall out a few months later. As for ordering online, all sites have you fill out a mini questionare. They supposedly employ someone to review it who can legally write you a prescription. It all seems kinda shadey, but its really a great deal for us.

Sooo, instead I ordered 30 tabs of Proscar to be sent Fed Ex next day mail from Prescriptions Keywest. I should have it by Friday.

Another $120 gone. Ouch.

Ah well, better a hit to my wallet then to my hair!

After this, I'm gonna have a ton of Proscar. Think it'll keep better in the fridge? Anyone know?

Flux, on one occassion I stopped proscar for over a month after having been on it for many years. No ill effects whatsoever. Just like you wouldn't go bald in a couple of months, stopping the proscar won't cause you to lose your hair any quicker than you would if you never took it. Just a little F.Y.I. - I believe it has a 24 hour half life.
