If you see him now, he wears a lot of hats and bandanas. He's actually only 39, which I know is older than a lot of people here, myself included, but he certainly lost the male pattern baldness lottery. I think he pulls it off really well though. I would imagine most of his fans never realised his male pattern baldness, just as I imagine most Guns and Roses fans never knew about Axl. As a long haired rocker guy myself, I always find it interesting seeing how rock stars deal with hair loss.

He's another great example of a guy who is losing hair, but doesn't just give up and shave, he's always made the most of his hair, and I think he looks cool.


Their bassist Shavo took a different apprioch entirely, as his male pattern baldness was much more sever and early and grew out an epic beard instead to compensate. I'd rather have hair, but I think he pulls it off quite well.

malakians hair loss is def noticeable especially during performance when he starts to sweat. shavo still a badass. when u got money and fame, hair loss is probably least of your concern.

Not in an industry where you're judged on appearance.. these guys have an image to portray and 5 balding in a complete band won't really appeal to listeners, as superficial as that sounds.

To us it's noicable sure, but I bet most SOAD fans don't even realise he suffers from male pattern baldness. And yeah, Shavo has always looked badass, shaved head and goatee, though he has a good headshape and is of course a rich and succesful rockstar. Their drummer has siginficant temple recession, though I'm not sure if he's balding. Same for Serj who is a bit older then he other band members.

That said, Daron is wearing hats and bandanas lately for a reason, appearance is VERY important.

He's a rock star he can get away with the long balding hair. If he was an average guy he'd just look like a clown.
