Dead follicle...really dead? Some questions...

Anyone really know the answer to these questions?? I've read the once the follicle gets pegged by DHT, your hair goes on a downward spiral to non-existence, then as an added benefit, your body's immune system chimes in and starts punching away at the follicle too. (your body has identified this DHT infested "thing" as a foreign body and wants to rid itself of it). 1. Is it true about your body's immune system, or is it only sometimes true depending on the person? 2. Is the follicle doomed to death or is it just in suspended animation awaiting minoxidil or finasteride to come to the rescue? Does the blood supply drop off the follicle and if so, will it come back if prompted "heavily" enough? I see tiny, (I mean tiny hairs only visible with magnifying glass) hairs on my "slick" parts of my temple areas...does that mean those hairs "might" come back and be normal as long as I'm patient enough to continue with regimen? I know, I know, lots of questions. Thanks.

I have been following his web-page and have been recieving his bs e-mails.

1. His "dots" don't look any different than they did 3 months ago...

2. I could easily photoshop dots on my back and say that I smear ice-cream on my back 4 times a day and that it's causing some crazy *** reaction growing little stubs of hair.

Until he shows up at my door with these dots, then i don't believe him.

I have the same situation like you. I regrew a lot of very tiny hairs that I can only really see in the light. Very small. I can feel them when I touch them with my hand but they are so thin and not very long it still looks like I have a receding hairline even though I have all my hair.

The hairs like that in my left temple are coming in, they are getting longer and thicker pretty fast, but my right temple those hairs have been the same for a while. If all these hairs where 2 mature to their regular size I would have my perfect hairline back.

I hope they will go to their regular size in time.

Hate to be a downer, but keep your expectations realistic.

If there is no hair, it is possible that minoxidil will spawn a vellus hair. If there is a vellus hair, it is possible to turn it into a thin terminal hair. If there is a thin terminal hair, it is possible to turn it into a thick, healthy terminal hair. BUT, if there is no hair, the odds of getting the follicle to grow a thick, terminal hair, even after a year or two of treatment, is very slim.

minoxidil and Propecia have never been able to grow back a full head of hair from a bald scalp. I dont think even promising future treatments like OSH101 will be able to do that (if it ever comes out and is as good as we hope).

And remember, these drugs help us fight the tide, but theres still no beating male pattern baldness. Even those of us who caught it early and respond well to the treatments can still expect to go bald eventually. It'll just take an extra 5 or 10 years.

There is guy on HLH (I think his name is Mike) who had amazing results on a pretty much bald scalp with minoxidil and propecia. He had been bald for a pretty long time and was still able to revive his follicles enough to get very decent coverage. His pictures should still be in the photo gallery area.
