Background: Early twenties, live in a rather cold place (northern USA), hair loss started in late teens, mostly diffuse hair loss with okay hair density.
I've had an itchy scalp with a multitude of other stuff as a result of that. I've been to a dermatologist but I was diagnosed with "dandruff and male pattern pattern". I'm still considering taking action for such a terrible diagnosis. I've had itchy scalp, yellow flaking, thinned hair shafts, and this weird thing where my hair would fall off attached to a flake. Picture (not very pleasant): http://i.imgur.com/BWaon6f.jpg There's like 5-6 strands of hair that came off in one go, this isn't uncommon either. Usually they are groups of 2-3. Also I notice that my hair is very thin at the root where it comes out and thick at the ends. Kind of like this: http://www.aafp.org/afp/2009/0815/afp20090815p356-f2.gif
I've used Nizoral for my self diagnosed seborrheic dermatitis and I realized it severely thinned my hair and reduced density (used it over a year old). I also tried used a bunch of herbal shampoos and coal tar. Coal tar does help control the build up I guess but I'm still unsure.
Anyone experience this? I probably do have male pattern baldness but this condition is making it way more severe. Do you guys think I should seek a hair specialist? What type of specialist would know about this?
