Definite Answer: Finasteride every other day or not

So I've ordered a months supply of generic finasteride from a pharmacy chain for very moderate receding hair line at 18. I was wondering if I should be taking it every day or every other day? I'm unsure as to what the science behind the whole thing is and can't find a definitive answer online. Every other day would be better but I can do every day if its significantly better.

Thanks in advance,

KMcraft, it's recommended to take Finasteride daily, 1-1.25 milligrams daily to treat genetic hair loss. Every other day will work, though taking Finasteride daily will help keep consistency itself stable.

I 2nd this. The Every other day thing won't reduce sides, however it is possible that it might not be as effective in saving your hair. Yes the dht chart of one pill for one week shows a continued decrease in dht, but there's more going on then just that one example. The drug has an 8 hour half life, there may be different ways the 5ar reductase plays a role biologically in effecting your follicles then just what that blood test shows... The studies show that taking the pill every day is what is effective. Taking it every other day could potentially result in less gains. Unless they do a study on this I would just continue to take it every day as the drug is prescribed. Everything else is broscience theories and cannot be backed up with scientific studies.

By the way I started when I was 18. Pretty much right around my 18th birthday, maybe a little before or a little after.

Many claim that 0.5 mg is almost equal to 1mg in terms of effectiveness, but I don't think it could actually give less side effects (exactly for the same reason it almost equals in terms of effectiveness , i.e : almost the same amount of DHT is reduced).
This might be sound reasoning however blocking 5α-reductase also inhibits other hormones such as DHP and DHDOC, your reasoning assumes that it's only DHT suppression that's responsible for side effects. It would be unwise to assume that suppression of these other hormones should produce an 'equivalent' 'physiological dose-response curve' compared to DHT suppression.

Taking 0.5 mg daily of Finasteride will be pretty effective actually. Though, why not just take 1 milligram approved dosage?
Mainly for economic reasons but also because I want to ease my way into the drug. But I will be happy if I can get results with just half a pill

I'm guessing that you're using the 1 milligram tablets. Have you tried obtaining the 5 mg tablets of Finasteride? If you haven't you should since you can split them into fourths and take 1.25 mg daily for baldness. You get to take just a little more than the approved 1 mg dosage daily and it's much cheaper that way. Also, there's really no need to ease your way into the drug, it's not necessary and you can simply start taking it daily.
