does this look like male pattern baldness, or something non genetic like a fungal infection or alopecia Areata? It appeared out of nowhere a couple of months ago and there are no signs of hair growth in that spot

There is not much else info to go on, but just a spot could be alopecia areata.
You should go to your doctor and make sure that there is no underlying reason for your hair loss.
