Difference between 15% minoxidil and 3x dosage of 5% minoxidil?

I'd have to say its the 15% is 3 times stronger than 5%. It's not like you get 15% from combining 5% 3 times. 5% still has its potency no matter what

The 15% is made to work stronger.......

People need to remember something important about high doses of minoxidil (larger than five percent). A lot of time it can make hair worse.

The reason is sometimes the scalp cannot handle the minoxidil dosage. And hydrocortisone or some other chemical needs to help your
hair take the dosage. I learned this the hard way, and lost some of my hair because of it.

Id like to see a source that shows this rather than just ur anecdotal report. Many people successfully used Dr. Lees various minoxidil formulas that ranged from 6%-15% and they did not include any topical steroid in the formulations.

How do know the concentration that was really in there? Was Dr. Lee's formula script from a doctor?

His formula Xandrox 15% is only 11%.

So, if you want to try a scripted formula, (and mine is), then you can say my statement is false or true.

lol DOCTOR Lee is a DOCTOR. His scripts for each patient was from himself cuz he's an MD. He was very trusted and had been making minoxidil formulations since 1988. Even at that time Upjohn (the makers of Rogaine) sued his practice because he was sending kits to people with minoxidil pills that instructed them how to make topical minoxidil.

He had his own compounding pharmacy that made all of his formulations. Not that bs Murray avenue apothecary that compounds minoxidil while also selling weight loss cures and herbs. His focus was hairloss and ONLY hairloss.

He was a "brick and mortar" establishment and I have even visited the premises myself as he was only about 25 miles away from me. The FDA shut him down and one of the reasons was he was selling minoxidil solutions way above the FDA approved 5% limit.

As far as Im concerned he was the most legit guy in this shady hairloss industry. He had very fair prices and showed sincere care for his patients. Do a search on his name here and see how many people relied on his formulas. He had several patents for his high concentration minoxidil that require special processing to manufacture. Look at the prices Murray avenue is charging for their minoxidil, it's ridiculous.

show me proof that his xandrox 15 only contained 11% minoxidil. Did you send a sample out to an independent lab for analysis? Stop throwing out false claims like its facts.

you claim any minoxidil formulation over 5% requires hydrocortisone in it, so if Dr. Lees xandrox only has your "reported 11%" (which is more than double 5%), why was there no hydrocortisone in it then?

Never said that anything over five percent needed hydrocortisone. In fact, I tried a 12.5% percent without hydrocortisone without
any issues. What I'm talking about is Xandrox (today, before the great Dr. Lee passed away).

I've heard great things about Dr. Lee, but what I'm talking about is Xandrox. It's a well known fact (they even admit it on their website)
that their fifteen percent is really eleven percent.

Also, if it was a liquid (15%), than I'm really skeptical about it.

For the record, I actually use Xandrox fifteen percent, and I'm very happy with it.

The youtube video was testing 2012 - 2014 values, but I think there product is currently very good.

In fact, I've recommended it in other threads I posted on this board.

Let me say this. It was made by him at one time. That's obviously currently not the case, since he has passed away.

Read your post (#3 in this thread). You specifically stated anything over 5%. I was referring to Xandrox formulations up to 2011ish prior to Dr. Lee getting shut down. I wouldn't trust any of formulations out today as they merely just piggy back off the Xandrox name.

Back to the original topic, show me proof higher minoxidil concentrations require hydrocortisone to not inflame the scalp. That is just simply not supported by evidence. Even Belgravia centers 12.5% minoxidil/azelaic acid lotion which they make at their pharmacy on prescription does not contain hydrocortisone and works to grow hair perfectly fine in their patients.

I bought Dr Lee's Xandrox back in the day, the 15%. It gave me pretty good results. I wish his Xandrox was still around. I remember it having some other things in it, if i'm not mistaken it had some finasteride in it? And azalaic acid? My memory is blurry because it was now like 5-6 years ago, but it was 15% minoxidil with some other stuff added in there.

Sorry i still don't understand why some people use 15% or even 30% minoxidil. Can someone please explain how this is different to just applying more of the 5%?
