i am a diffuser, and my hair is long, but i've been thinking if it would be better if i got my hair cut really short. I'm thinking about between 2-4 guard on top and 0 on the sides. But i'm afraid if i do it, then my thinning will be more noticable, or maybe it wont.? I dont know. I've been on propecia for about a month now and i am shedding but it seems normal to me. THe thing that makes my hair look thin is that i have long hairs and then really short hairs that are trying to grow. so its like i have two differnt lengths of hair. those short hairs, i think they are new hairs so thats a good thing. :freaked: i just need a good haircut. advise would be appreciated.

I had longish hair, and it looked real thin. I cut it to a #3 on the sides, and about 2 inches on top... the crown still looks thinnish, but the front looks almost too thick. So, the shorter the better for thinning hair.

Real tight (short) flat-tops make anyone look thin on top which is a good thing because the nature of the cut makes it difficult if not impossible to tell if you had thin or thick hair to begin with. If your frontal hairline is not ravaged to much you should be able to take a flat-top and look sharp. Get a barber who really knows what he is doing if you get a flat-top. Don't trust the girl at the local Hair Cuttery to give you a good flat-top(you might end up with a wiffle). A flat-top is one of the hardest cuts to do. Find a barbar who does a lot of military and Police and don't be afraid to ask how many he has done and explain that you want a squared top. I currently have a flat-top which utilized a 3 guard on the sides and a 1 guard on top. I find that a real short or medium length cut works best for me.

Further, there are lots of good grooming gels, pomades and waxes to make a good flat-top look really sharp. Also, I use brushes (like a boars hair military) when I have a flat-top.
