Dissolving Finistride in Vodka

Another member of this forum dissolves a 5mg tab of finistride (Proscar) in 10ml of vodka for the purposes of taking precise amounts of the drug. I believe he uses a plastic syringe to measure out the precise dosages. For example, 1 ml of the solution should contain .5 mg of finistride.

I am thinking about using this system as well, on the condition that the drug will not be altered by sitting around in vodka for a week in a half. Can somebody with a science background tell me whether the drug will be rendered ineffective using this method?

just chop the pill up. It doesn't matter if it's precise. then you can save the vodka for a time when you get depressed about your hairloss (as I do)! :woot:

It is difficult to cut a Proscar pill into 10 pieces.

I just got a new bottle and I want to decrease my dosage to .5 mg/day.

It does if you experience sides to 1 mg and not <.50 mg.

Anybody else? Is there a better way to achieve this other than with alcohol?

None of the studies that tested finasteride in topical hydroalcoholic solutions ever mentioned that it was particularly unstable that way, so I think it's okay to do that. Just to be on the safe side, though, I'd probably make and keep relatively small batches at a time. A week and a half sounds about right to me.
