Hi

I am 27 years old. I have some signs of hair loss (i think). Propecia (0.5mg EOD) took 3-4 months and stopped because of side effects. Can you tell me that it's good time to start medication or I am just touchy?

This is a photos from when i was a 18 years old and 21 ( i don`t have better).

Dont see any reason to believe you're losing hair. As for the difference between 18 - 27 you cant ask for better than that.

I know that it`is start now - I have temple recession. Half year ago I really was happy with my hairline but now I must hiding my temples.
The finasteride (every other day) and minoxidil is enough to return to hairline from half year ago.

Thanks for response.

The temples themselves look fine, but it looks like you're starting to thin in the general frontal area.

It also looks like it's pretty slow. You aren't gonna be bald in a few months or anything, so take your time on deciding if you do need some kind of treatment or not.

I agree. You have a lot of options given your age and the amount of hair loss. Look into herbs, vitamins, and minerals that address inflammation.

Very minimal hairloss. If I was you I'd just keep a close watch on it. If it really starts bothering you, you can try rogaine. If the sh*t really hits the fan you can try propecia. But honestly you have very little to worry about for now.

Okay. I have one question. I want to maintain this situation on my head. I am interested about the most powerful topical antiandrogen. Of course without big side effects. Price does not matter.
Can you recommend something?

I allowed myself to make a list of antiandrogens:

Retin-a
Azelic acid
Fluridil
Ru58841 (but from where I can get it?)
spironolactone
17a-estradiol (very good if we compare with CB-03-01 from study)
CB-03-01 (like ru, from where I can get it?)

Price doesn't matter but I don't want a fake stuff.
Thanks for your help

I've never tried amy of these treatments so take my advice with a grain of salt. If I was you I'd go with topical spironolactone. From what I've read here on the forum, it's probably the best topical dht inhibitor. RU and CB are also good supposedly, but I wouldn't trust stuff from some sketchy lab in china. I'm honestly not convinced that spironolactone works, but since money isn't a problem, and some people say it works, it wouldn't hurt to try it.

I bought 3 bottles of Pantostin. It have a 17a-estradiol. In Cosmo study I see that it is a 1% solution so it`s much more higher than in Pantostin (or I do not understand a numbers). This is a link:
http://www.versandapo.de/en/10221/86668 ... oesung.htm
Probably I will be using this one aplication per day on morning.

For topical use I want use a minoxidil too in 2% solution only one time a day (evening) beacuse I do not want to shed my hair.
Can tell me what I can take oral to help to grow my hair?
If I take propecia for 3 month it posibble I will maintain hair post propecia using only treatment on above?

Thanks for response

No loss there, just watch it closely. No need for meds. You can not treat a disease which doesn't exist, you know.

Thanks ivangennaro

I understand that pictures don't give a reality of my problem. This is a very small begining of hair loss. I have a little reduction density of frontal scalp with compare to donor area and temples looks to start of recession. I now it's not big deal for now but ... the earlier the better. I spent lot of time to find something to help with my problem. I was looking for medicine with very small side effects but with study of proven effective.
I am not oversensitive to myself - just I now that I need to do something with this.
Thanks for this site (and thanks to you) because I have a lot of information about male pattern baldness. A year ago I thought that the vitamin B complex is sufficient ... So you can imagine how stupid I was.

Returning to the topic. I thing a 17a-estradiol can give me a little help and will suffice for now.

Can someone tell me what I need to take orally and it's proven to help for hair (not necessary for male pattern baldness)?

Cheers for all and again sorry for my mistakes in english.

Dude, I had my donor area thicker than the frontal area when I was about 12, 13. I know that because I used to spike my hair all over; including the donor area, LOL. Some people's hair are like that. Even my sister's is the same.

I don't know what it was like in the past, but if you think you're losing hair just because you can see some scalp in the frontal area in those photos or under direct sunlight; it's normal. Because there's gel on your hair which makes your hair look thinner. Or it's simply wet, I don't know but it gives the same look. And there is bright flash shining on. Every human being would show scalp under those conditions; more or less. That's a fact. Believe me, I should be awarded with some kind of trophy for watching every single man's hair that I see on the street, LOL. I know those things. Most of the people show scalp.

Of course you know your hair best, but depending on those photos, if I see you walking down the street I would say "that's hell of a nice thick hair". All in all, based on those photos, I don't think you should start taking meds. But if you have been seeing a noticable loss of density; than I'd suggest you to take finasteride. It should do the work alone. Good luck :)

Thank you again for your reply ivangennaro. You gave me a different perspective.

I already have 3 bottles of Pantostin. I do not want to lose validity of this product. Therefore, I intend to use it every other day. I think that this is not a bad idea.

I am in the early stages of baldness. In my family only my father have problem with that (50 years old and something between NW5 and NW6). I spent many days on google to learn about this to take some options what can help me.

What it's the best option for a guy who just start losing a hair? I want to answer this question.

I am thinking about three things:

1. Taking a propecia in small dosage (0.5mg EOD) for one month and next take a brake (off pill) for another one month - and so on. In this way, I want to avoid upregulation and increased side effects.

2. Try RU58841 overnight and alfatradiol in the morning. Of course I must be lucky guy like irishpride86.

3. Taking a small FUE (about 200 to 500 grafts) every two eyars and live without any drugs.

What do you think about these ideas?

Thanks for response

I took three doses of Propecia (0.5mg EOD) and side effects return.
Same story as five months ago, but that side effects appeared immediately. The only thing I can think now is the RU

Are high risk is to continue treatment?. Can I do something to reduce the side effects?

My side effects are:
- 50% of the libido
- Breast tenderness

Thanks for your reply

Ok - little update
I used Propecia for 4 months from 12.2011 to 03.2011 and for about one month in 05-06.2011. I stopped using this drug due to decreased libido and mild tenderness in the nipples. Here are the photos a two month later (07.2011) after stopping taking Propecia:

Then I started this thread to make sure or maybe I'm a very touchy about my hair. I bought Alfatradiol and I was use it for over a month. In September (09.2011) noticed worsening left temple - this picture below shows:

I decided to go back to Propecia and stop alfatradiol. After a few days, occurred the same side effects as before. A month later, the side effects disappeared. Now I am on the dose 0.5mg every day. It is now over two months of treatment. Unfortunately, miniaturized hair on the left temple was disappeared. Illustrate the photos below.

On right temple I see some miniaturization.
I have 27 years and I think that my hair loss is slow. I want to back of my situation in July. In the sixth month of treatment, I bet a new thread to show my progress (hopefully in the right direction).

Thanks for response
