Hey,

I'm going to start propecia after its delivered ( ~ 2 weeks time ). I'm 17, almost 18 and my hairline has been receeding. Very early stages. I can see lots of thin black hairs( ranging from 0.5cm to 1 cm) in the temples/juveline hairline area which used to grow very long but now they are quite small and won't grow any further. Will Propecia thicken all these tiny hairs and make them grow like normal? or would I definitely need minoxidil for that?

Another question, If propecia is successful at stopping minaturization and prevent it from progressing or slows it downs significantly, and if I use minoxidil to get some regrowth, would I be able to keep these minoxidil grown hairs for much longer than 2 years? as minaturization is progressing very slowly due to propecia?

I don't really like the idea of using minoxidil, it seems pretty much like fake hair .. its going to go soon, and also im a student so money is bit of a problem.

You are too young and you needed to consult a derm. experienced in hair loss before you started to make sure if they have to say anything.

I wouldn't worry about juvenile hair not growing. You would still have a lot of hair that can be saved with finasteride. You will have to try finasteride to see how those hair you are talking about play out for you. Individuals results vary a lot. So no one would have definite answer for you but just speculations and perhaps personal experiences or anecdotal stories.

minoxidil have helped keep hair for many for decades, but results vary. I don't know about 2 year ultimatum on minoxidil grown hair but it is probably just a rumor you read somewhere.

In general, finasteride and minoxidil work great in combo. However, if you have plenty of hair already, I would just keep finasteride. for now and assess the results. You can always add minoxidil later if there is severe loss or something.

finasteride. is dirt inexpensive on online pharmacies. Cost should not be that much of a burden
