sad to say but i prolly jave theworld record for loking in the mirror. and i feel ur pain about differnt mirrors and reflections and lighting. and yes when im farther away the better i look, its weird. ever since ive lostt my hair i cant stop looking in the mirror to find a good reflection and some mirrors are horrible and they just kill ur confidence. i know that i wouldnt be having this problem if i didnt lose my hair, it has chaged me and makes me question myslef and how people see me. idk if they see me as that good refelction or that bad one. male pattern baldness realy screws with ppl like me on deep levels, im only 20 and i feel llike a depressed loser 40 yr old looking in mirrors trying to capture some confidence.

I feel your pain......many times in the morning I will style my hair a certain way and think it really does not look that bad. However, when I go to work I will enter the bathroom almost immediately to check my hair. When I look in the mirror I can't believe what I see. I can totally see my scalp everywhere! It puts me in a very bad mood sometimes. I am constantly checking myself out in the mirror or any place I can get a reflection. I have even been caught a few times and totally called out on it. I really need to stop. I need to look in the mirror and get a really good image of myself, keep it locked away in my head, and never look in the mirror again for the rest of the day!

Yes, I find the worst bathrooms to be the workplace ones with their lighting. But I don't spend much time in those because men are usually embarassed to be found checking themselves out in a mirror.

Btw Sorry that you are a Buffalo Bills fan viper, I am a Patriots fan, even before they started winning, since 1992. Do you live in upstate NY or have moved out like so many others?

i feel 40 too, except non-financially established.

my peers don't worry about any of this stuff. they just go out and date, and if they work out, they get even more action.

i have noticed the exact same things. I think softer light is the most forgiving as it makes me look more tan and that i have a better hair line :)

Yes I'm originally from Buffalo, but now live in sunny SouthWest Florida. I am a die hard Bills fan. Close game a couple of weeks ago aganist the Pats and I think the Bills should have won it. I think the Bills are going to surprise some people this year and I'm loving it. I miss Western New York though, but it is tough to find employment there. So your a Patsies fan huh? Where abouts are you from?

Go Dolphins!!!

I think the Abilene Stallfins are the ones who are going to surprise some people this year.....

.....By losing every single game.

(I´ts a shame, it used to be a very consistent team for many years)

this is very true.

i'd sort your lights out, put a blind in or something ;) just anything to stop you getting as down about it, its like having a friend there 'you're going bald' everytime you go for a piss.

do yourself a favour and tweak your sh*t up !!!

that did make sense.

Lights are generally (specfically fluros) are rated by their kelvin rating. The higher the K rate, the 'bluer' the light, the lower the K rate, the 'redder' the light.

If you think of ROYGIBIV, higher K rated lights accentuate the latter colours, so obviously lower K rated lights accentuate the redder colours.

Basically the lower K rated lights (like incadecents) will highlight the 'pink' colour of your skin, so u look good better than you would under higher K rated lights which make you look pale and accentuate the darker colour under your eyes.

It may sound like it would not matter that much but get a mirror and look at yourself under an incadecent globe and compare it to a bluer fluro light (typically offices etc have higher K fluros) and see the difference.

Its big business, many stores will actually hire lighting engineers to help sell their product.

Just a thought, hope it makes you understand better why under some lights you look like sh*t and others you dont.

The brighter the light the more it reflects off your scalp. (unless you have thick dense hair).

That's one of the worst things is'nt it? So many situations cause us worry. We can't just get on with our lives and be like everyone else who just take their hair for granted. (so unfair)

I was born and raised in the Boston Area (why else would I be a Pats fan in 1992?) , studied and resided in the Albany,NY area and Ithaca, NY and have moved down south to the ATL (otherwise known as Atlanta).

Yes, the first game was a close game and the Patriots were unimpressive in the first half, but watch out later in the season. The Patriots are notoriously slow starters early in the season. (Recall the 31-0 loss a couple of years ago to the Bills first game.) But Buffalo is not bad at all this season.

Don't want this to turn into a football thread but when did you become a pats fan coolerking? I don't care for the many "bandwagon" fans I see everywhere - Calif. or down south. They may be transplants from N.E. but there sure are a lot more nowadays outside N.E.

Hope they beat the Broncos tonight. Wish I had Bruschi's hair.
