Do you comb your hair?

I've got buzz cuts all my life So I never really combed my hair, after I started losing I started growing it longer and lately I notice how after I apply minoxidil my hair gets all sticky in chunks and looks REALLY terrible! But tonight I took a comb and combed it and it looks pretty nice now!

But is combing bad for hair loss? Will it cause more hairs to come off? Or will it help circulation and spreading healthy scalp oils and stuff?

Do you guys comb your hair? If so how often do you recommend and when? Should I just comb my hair after I get our of the shower?

Probably neither beneficial nor harmful. If hair breaks or falls out then that doesn't really affect the follicle. The amount of scalp stimulation from combing wouldn't be enough to impact hair follicles in any way too. So I guess comb if you want, doesn't make much difference

I have a small brush I brush my hair a lot with when styling it. I've always used one actually with most long hair styles I've had IE, Hipster bangs & longer middle part. It will not do any harm but I do avoid brushing with wet hair. I've heard you're not supposed to do that.

Really doesn't make a difference. I find using a boar bristle brush makes my hair look thicker though.

And do you guys think it's fine to comb wet hair with a boar brush or is it better a wide tooth comb.

Or just doesnt make any difference?

Yes, I comb my hair. I prefer to comb it forward, my hair sort of looked like Dane Dehaan's when styled that way before my male pattern baldness got really aggressive.

I don't comb it, I just let it long so the receding hairline is mostly hidden by hair that is before the hairline.

I keep my hair rather medium length on the top and a bit short on the sides so it doesn't look as thin.

Combing is not bad for hair at all. Just don't comb it when it's wet.

What I do is this: I take a comb and a boar bristle brush. I comb the hair forward starting right from the bottom of the back, then I take the boar bristle brush and brush do the same as I did with the comb, brushing it from the back to the very front. Then I take the comb and comb it back, starting at the hairline. Then I take the boar bristle brush do the same as I did with the comb, brushing it from the front all the way to the back. I repeat that process 3 times—forward, back, forward, back, forward, back. You are brushing it forward to gather all the oils that are at the back and spread them out, then you are brushing it back to get them through the hairline and through the hair. I do this twice a week.

Also wash the brush every second week. The reason for the comb is to get out any tangles before using the brush. I mean, if you brush it all forward you don't want to suddenly brush it back with the brush because that will cause the hair too much tension so you comb it back and then start brushing it back.

Here's a video that demonstrates it better than I can explain it:

I comb my hair with a comb that is really thin between its teeth. Gives me an idea of how much I am shedding.

I also read somewhere it is bad to comb when wet since the water on hair adds so much weight it is more likely to fall out with the tension of a comb when wet than dry. I am not sure if there is any proof or research to back that up.
