ever since i started losing my hair, I, like many others have developed this weird kinda creepy compulsive disorder to look at a guys hairline upon first meeting them or even seeing someone on tv.

But it occured to me the other day, I tend to feel pretty good when i see guys with lines similar to mine, and even better when i see guys a little worse off (the gym primarily, male pattern baldness hell up in there)

At first this didnt feel strange but then i thought to myself; why does this make me feel better? I don't feel better if i see a pimple face guys, overtly ugly guys or people with any other uncontrollable cosmetic problem.

So why does me having a cruddy extra 2 inches of hairline over another man make me feel content? kinda weird, just curious how u guys respond to seeing other guys in the male pattern baldness boat.

I like your avatar. You should change your name to Sauron. To answer your question, sometimes I feel like speaking to people about treatments since I have had such good success, but it's kind of awkard to approach someone and say: "Hey I know what will work for your hairloss". You feel me?

yea i can understand that. Speaking of your success, i was reading your previous post about biting the bullet and taking minoxidil early and it kind of got me thinking why not?.

I just recently started taking proscar and even that was a big step for me, but at best the most i think that will do is slow my hairloss. Since my hairline isn't that noticably receded yet, i think im gonna add minoxidil soon too and see if it can do any magic in the front.

now to bombarde you with questions

what kind do you take?
(generic, dr lees? rogaine?)

also, how ofter do you apply? once a day or twice?

how much do you pay?
(i don't make that much at work and im already running $120 a year for my proscar)

where do you get?

how long do you leave on?

noticed any side effects?
(i heard it could potentially make your body hair increase. I already have basically a thin unibrow that i gotta shave. I dont wanna turn into teen wolf.)

finally, since i just have temporal slicks right now, should i just rub the minoxidil in those 2 areas or all over my scalp? should i put it in vertex just in case too? because its like 5/100 thinner than the rest, i can already tell.

thanx in advance

Various thinning stages of male pattern baldness looks like sh*t- Sorry guys. This is especially true when someone has thick hair and thin patches at the vertex and temple region. I speak specifially of guys in their early 20's and 30's. I do feel compelled to inform them of Propecia and Xandrox but never do because it is a touchy subject. I am a bit a*** and the hair reminds me of a clutered room or messy hair style. It would look much better shaved down, but these guys don't seem to understand that. I dont mean shaved completely just tight with a 1 or 2 cutting blade. Hey it works for me-

Rogaine 5%

Twice a day, every day.

Average $10.00 - $15.00 a month (Each Rogaine bottle contains a -$10.00 off coupon, and I usually wait to combine it with a sale for a killer deal)

Walgreens, Eckerds

I apply in the morning, then shower in the evening and don't remove it until next application, which just goes right on top of the previous one.

Minor increase of body hair on shoulders and upper back.

Only apply in thinning areas, unless you are a diffuse thinner.

It makes me feel soooooo good when I see someone else bald or balding. Sometimes when I see another guy that has male pattern baldness I run up to them and say "Hey your hair is falling out, maybe it's because you're so damn ugly and your hair is trying to get away from you." Then I get a stool, depending on how tall the person is, and start to use their head as my own personal bongo. Depending on how I am feeling I may or may not start singing a wide variety of songs. After that is over I grab the person by the hand and drag them up and down the aisles of the store saying "Look he has less hair than I do." Good times I tell you, good times.

i do find myself staring at people's hair to see if they're losing theirs. and i get pissed when i see people older than me with great hair i once had. i miss having the hairstyle i used to have and getting hit on all the time. i don't get hit on that much anymore by strangers. but what are you going to do i guess. i need to suck it up. anyways, some people never experienced the sh*t i have ..so i shouldn't complain. at least i've had the opportunity with a lot of cute chicks

Yesterday I saw a very ridiculous looking balding guy, it made me feel bad actually, knowing that I will be like him within 2 or 3 years. when I see someone with great thick hair make me feel bad as well.
Actually, looking at anything related to hair, makes me feel bad. :?
Last time I saw a balding guy, not the best looking guy, he was a bit overweight, laughing with lot of friends around him, having fun etc... like I saw few days ago. It makes me think "Damn that guy is far happier, has more friends than I ever had when I had my thick spiky hairstyle" and I realize that hair is not all.

I love seeing other balding guys....makes me feel great! Especially when they have thinning they probably do nothing about (like my young neighbor).

I probably notice more people that are losing hair but it definitely doesn't make me feel any better. I do want to help them.

I have talked to some of my other close friends who are losing it. One guy is going to try finasteride. The other doesn't really care. I admire the fact that he is just going with it. He actually does care, but he says it's too much work to do rogaine and he doesn't want to mess with his hormones.

A good friend of mine from highschool talked about it over my christmas break. I'm setting him up with a regimen.

I'm in a situation like this at the moment.

It doesnt really make me feel better. I try not to think this way, as I believe alot of people do (well, I know for a fact the majority of balding guys think this way, as proven by websites like these) I try not to feel happy that 'so and so' is worse off than I.

Like most of you have mentioned, talking about the subject to others isnt an easy task. My brother has male pattern baldness, and I want to tell him "Get on the minoxidil, propecia and nizoral and give it 6 months" but I don't know what his reaction will be, I am no way certain. He may apprectaite it, but he may laugh at me, leaving me a potential laughing stock for life. The fact that he'll probably share this with my parents isnt a prospect I'd look forward too.

So it isnt easy.

If only I can somehow direct the information to them by others means. Not from me, from......somewhere or someone else.

Because I'd love to help them, but not give away the game that I'm using hairloss treatments to aid my male pattern baldness.

God, if my sister/friends found out, it would give her ammo for life.

Yeah, there are friends that are worse off than me, that I want to make recommendations to. I wonder if they have a regimen. One guy looks really good bald. The other is trying to hid it, by geling his hair down. The wind came one day and he was trying to keep it down. But there is no easy way to tell them. Can't send them an email with a fake yahoo account, because then they will be WAY overly self-conscious, which will make the situation worse.

As for feeling better seeing somebody worse off, I try to keep in mind the theory of evolution- that so so much of what we do and how we feel is about evolution, finding a mate, competing against others in life for our betterment. It's "natural" to see somebody less attractive and feel better, cause that means we are more likely to serve our "purpose" in life- find a mate and reproduce. Don't mean to make it sound that simple, but when you break it down, I think that is the ONE thing that we instinctually HAVE to do.

And commenting about actors balding like we are, there's nothing wrong with that. We aren't bringing them down to our "level". We are bringing us up to theirs. Girls like Vin Deisel and other shaved-headed actors. Wouldn't it be cool if shaved heads was THE style? We wouldn't need to worry about it if EVERYBODY was bald.

Maybe that is the cure- develop a drug you can slip in the water to make the whole world lose their hair. =)

Later.

yea good point about the evolution. I am also a firm believer in breaking things down to our natural instincts, sometimes it annoys people but i've hardly ever lost an argument against me. Anyway, glad to see im not just some evil f*** who gets petty enjoyment from the misfortunes of others. And yeah that that bongo post actually made me lol when reading it. reminded me of the simpsons where homer was playing burns's head.
