Do You Tell People You Know That You're Wearing A Hair System?

I have recently got my first hair system and I am wondering what peoples' thoughts are about telling people who know you about it.

I think if the system looks good, strangers are not going to notice and will just assume it's your real hair. However for people you know and see regularly, for example friends, family, co-workers etc, they are used to seeing you with thinning, receding or no hair. If you suddenly turn up with a full/thicker head of hair, obviously they are going to notice and ask questions or at least suspect something because there is no way you could suddenly have grown your hair back or thickened it so quickly.

Personally I am not comfortable telling anybody I know that I wear a hair system as there is still a stigma about it in society, especially for younger men, though I will probably tell a future lover if we get close and when the time is right. I just tell people I've had some work done on my hair by a stylist to artificially enhance it and thicken it up, and say that I use thickening shampoos/styling products, then I leave it at that.

What are your thoughts on this? What have your own personal experiences been? Have you had comments/looks from people you know, and how did you respond to them?

I guess it's easier, if people know, but they don't have to. Not some short time friends, though, only those who you know for a decade or more.

Only those very close to me know, mother, wife, father, sister...others may have figured it on their own. I have never been confronted about it otherwise...

It’s not a se ret for me at all. To make the transition easier for me, and lessen the awkwardness, my first unit was cut really short. In fact my profile photo is my first system. I. Got new glasses and trimmed my beard at the same time, so most just assumed the change was the beard. Of course some noticed instantly.

My hair has become stuff of legends at work. People constantly comment how real it looks, and are amazed I can change the style so much.
As for friends, most have no clue till I tell them.
I. The end it’s just not that big of a deal. If women can come to work with new boobs on Tuesday, james can. On my way! To work with new hair on Wednesday

I keep it quiet. Only my brother and 2 ex-girlfriends know, because I told them. For the rest, it's sufficiently realistic that I don't have to disclose, and I don't choose to. It's only really worth it for me if most people see it as my real hair - I want to be seen as a guy with nice-looking natural hair, not one who has invested in a high quality hairpiece. If I choose to use a harmless cosmetic enhancement to improve my looks, it's not really anyone else's business, any more than if I wore a denture, or got a nose job. That's my take anyway.

I don't come up to someone and say, "Hello, I'm James and Im wearing a hair piece'. but for 90% of the people I see and know, I've known for years - so could see something was different - so I made the decision to own it. It worked for me.

I agree with this. I don't feel the need tell everyone I meet right away that I wear a hair system, but at the same time I have been open to all my friends and family that I decided to start wearing hair. I decided to be open and honest about my decision should it ever come up to anyone that may not know.

Quite honestly I have never been confronted on it, I'm sure some may suspect it

So far I've only told two people, a trusted work friend and his girlfriend, about it. I was mostly just trying to confirm with them that my piece looked realistic. The girlfriend didn't believe me when I said I was wearing my hair at first!

I didn't even tell my parents while spending a week with them over the holidays. They remarked that my hair must be getting wavier in the Florida heat (my system hair is wavier than my bio hair,) but other than that they said nothing about my hair.

When I first started wearing a hair system, I told a lot of my close friends, family, and girls I was dating.
Now after a year, I don't feel the need to tell anyone new. I don't date around anymore, I have a girlfriend. If someone new were to ask me about it, I would be honest about it. But I don't go around spreading the fact I am wearing a hair system. I'd rather talk about other things since hair is a non-important issue to me now. There are much bigger things to focus on in life! If your hair isn't on your mind, no one will give a sh*t either.

Here & there, as needed. Everyone is shocked that it's not real, even though I think it looks pretty fake ;)
