Do You Think I Am Going Bald At 14 Years Old?

Hello, So as you see from the title I am wondering if I am going bald at the age of 14. The back of my head (the crown) seems like its thinning out but my hairline is not receding at all. My mom and dad both have a full head of hair. My dads side of the family all have a great hair but my moms side has like 50/50 on good hair and bald. All my siblings have good hair. I was just wondering on if I am going bald (you can see from the back of my head and on the top)

It does look to be slight thinning however 14yr olds do not go bald from male pattern baldness. It could be that your hormones are fluctuating while in puberty and could be causing slight temporary thinning. This does NOT mean it is permanent. If it gets worse I would see an endocrinologist or dermatologist.

Stop spreading BS, you can go bald from male pattern baldness anytime after you enter puberty and your DHT levels rise. Its just very rare to be balding at 14. I have a norwood 6 friend who was thinning at 14 and Norwood 5-6 at 20.

Have you been noticing any other symptoms lately besides hair loss? Ask your parents if they can take you to the doctor and get a blood test performed.
I did my blood test couple of months ago and my vitaman D or C was low I forgot which one, should I ask them for another one?

Ya it looks like thinning... sorry man. It’s probably really early male pattern baldness. Go get your iron panel and thyroid checked... it was probably your vitamin d that was low (very common) so start 1000u per day supplements.

Realistically the only thing that can currently stop male pattern baldness is Finasteride, which you can’t take at your age. Hopefully your thinning will pause and won’t pick up again until you are older, at which point you can decide if you want to try it

Just eat healthy. Try a nizoral 1% shampoo and use it every other day.

Take pictures of your hair every few months and if it looks worse maybe try rogaine.

14yr olds do not have male pattern baldness. Do not listen to the people who are saying you have male pattern baldness. I would get your hair checked by a dermatologist and have them test your hormones. Contrary to popular belief, people regularly thin throughout their lives and it does not mean it won't grow back like in advanced male pattern baldness.

It’s bullshit you can’t be balding at 14. My best friend got hit by male pattern baldness at 12 and he’s a solid Norwood 3 now at 17. Talk to your parents if you’re really concerned as you definitely shouldn’t take any drugs that can change your hormones

Sometimes I read your responses and they're on the money. Other times they make me cringe. This one made me cringe.

I am telling a 14yr old to go to a doctor as it is not male pattern baldness. Other people, because he is a male, is saying it is male pattern baldness even though he is just 14 and he should start with Nizoral and Minoxidil. That is total BS. I really do not care how YOU feel. I care about how a worried 14yr old feels.

If you're male and have hair that is sensitive to DHT, then male pattern baldness is possible and likely. Sorry to break it to you, but male pattern baldness doesn't suddenly start discriminating against guys on their 18th birthday.

Of course he should go doctors to rule out thyroid, vit. D, zinc etc, but don't flat out lie to him that it can't be male pattern baldness.

Most people on this forum will know someone who started balding at school. I knew someone who had a Steven Segal hair pattern at 15 and is now slick bald at 24.

Also, I don't care that you don't care how I feel. Just saying. Stop talking sh*t and making me cringe.

Yeah sure. How do those guys who are norwood 4 or 3 or even 6 at 18 yrs old end up like that? Lose it all in the span of one year?

When its not mbp it tends to be diffuse hair loss across the whole head but he still has relatively thick hair elsewhere.

Its clear he is suffering from mbp but its probably at the beginning stages.

Yes the back of my head was always like this but I started to notice it about a couple of monthes ago after I got a hair cut. People where like what’s the spot in the back of your head and I thought it was nothing bad so I just said it’s a crown where my hair started to grow. I finally took a picture of the back of my head and it looked like that (I don’t have the picture anymore)

Are you serious?? Is there any way to stop it? My parents won’t ever allow me to do any of these types of drugs for my hair unless there prescribed by a doctor or something

People around me told me i am going to lose hair when i used to be 13-14! Guess what? They were true. Even though i had naturally thin hair but you sure can get hit by male pattern baldness when you are that young. I am pretty sure this is going to turn male pattern baldness..i had pretty same hair condition when i was 14.
