About a year ago I approach the akward topic of hairloss with my brother - he is exactly one year older then me and is a diffuse thinner like me...to cut a long story short a year later I have hung on to most of my hair (using rev, tricomin and spironolactone) he has really freefalled from Nw3 to Nw4/5 .

I really dont know if he is aware of propecia. I just sent him a message telling him I am now on propecia and if he wants to talk about it - do you think this was the right thing to do? - I know personally i hate it when people acknowledge my hairloss but I really would hate to think that he is just not aware of a treatment that could help him without sounding like a patronising a**h**

As a brother I think you did the right thing. It showed how much you care. I hope your bro takes it in the right spirit. What Norwood are you ?

Yeah i hope he takes it in the spirit I intended - I definetly know he's not tolerating the situation well - when we last spoke about it a year ago he was as pissed with hairloss as me - he's more "alpha male" then me in the sense he finds it harder to discuss these sorts of things.

Im a diffuse norwood 2 - have managed to experience maintanence and some regrowth at the hairline - and am hoping for good things on propecia.

You did the right thing, sometimes it it is benefitial to us when people face us with things we like to deny or are not aware of.

That was a def a kind choice. I'd much rather here it from a family member that's trying to provide a solution then a random stranger without one. It's also a great benefit that both of you were spawned from the same gene pool therefore you can provide him with a better scope of what's effective rather then him search for an answer on his own and fall victim to a hairloss scam.

Thats exactly why I decided to tell him - The only person to mention it to me was someone at work who made a wise crack in front of my collegues about being stressed at work cos my hair was falling out (really useful) I myself spent about a year using saw palmetto and nioxin - such a waste of time, money but most of all hair!

At least now I feel that he can make an empowered decision about stopping hairloss or letting nature take its course

Ive been thinkin about telling my brothers about some treatments. Ive been reluctant. I think it was the right move.
I went through saw palmeto too. That sucked. Do you think you had any success with revivogen?

ive never used revivogen on its own so I cant say definatively that it works ( a problem with all unproven treatments). I was using it alongside nizoral and copper peptides for 6 months (and later on added spironolactone).

If you discount the anti androgen effect of nizoral and think of cu peptides as a growth stimulant I would say rev did a decent job as a dht inhibitor by maintaining or slowing down my hairloss considerably - the main reason I stopped it was the hassle of applying it more then the efficacy.

Bottom line - if propecia doesnt work out for me I would go back on rev
