I used SDA-40B perfumer's alcohol in my solution. The specifications say It is 99.88% ethanol, .12% t-butyl alcohol, and .0006% Bitrex. SDA-40B is also what they use in minoxidil foam, although it has other alcohols in it as well. I think it should be fine, only time will tell. Where do you get your ethanol from?Doesn’t really matter what kind of glycerin you use. You can actually easily make it yourself. But it’s really cheap. I used glycerin that I bought from CVS. It cost $4.
“Lab grade” simply guarantees no impurities or a certain threshold floor. You might use lab grade if you were making a commercial product, but for something like this there’s really no point. You’ll just end up over paying.
The solution should maintain its current viscosity and stability as long as the correct PH was achieved. Also- it’s important that 100% 200 proof pure non-denatured ethanol is used. Any denaturing agents, aside from their obvious toxic health hazards they pose, will affect the stability of the solution.
