First post! Looking for advice.
Another losing hair on TRT question, but related more to Doctor not checking my t levels after first two months of treatement.
I had low t, 47, married with symptoms of low drive, depression, sexual weak performance, weight gain and even tho I was working out hard for the last two years doing Muay Thai two to three nights a week couldn't turn the corner on gaining muscle or looking better.
Went to Doctor, blood tests came back at 350. Not debilitating but the t of a 80 year old man.
Started test cybonate injections, 200mil a week. I split them into two 100 ml a week after reading on boards about the crash and to keep it consistent.
Felt great but I started getting really greasy skin, facial moles started to look bigger, losing hair but wasn't alarmed. I read up and understood this was hdt based.
Then I decided after a six weeks to ask Doctor for a new blood test to see what was up. I guess he goes like 6months usually since the traditional dose of 200 is fine. Alarming I thought.
My test came back at 1800. And that was on the day before my next injection. YIkes.
He told me it could be an anomaly, but we agreed I should push injections to .5 m every 5days rather than every three days.
After seeing more hairs on my comb I asked for more blood work after a couple weeks and was now at 1300. Crap.
Hair really started falling out then. Seeing scalp through hair now.
Full head of hair when I started, no signs or family male pattern baldness in past. Like greaser style pomp hair when I started.
My question is...
Is the massive testosterone in my blood for two months reversible at a hair level or not?
I think I have three options after reading up online.
1. Shave head and be done. Weird but I'm fine with that. But I think going completely bald seems weird and uneccesary since I wasn't showing any balding. I like short hair but think the hair should not all just die in two or three months.
2. Hope the lower dose ( now 100ml a week split in two doses) stabilizes test and hdl and I start growing hair back. Read about telogen effluvium being a possibility since the dose was too big for me.
Is getting it back a possibility? If my levels get in the correct range it could be just hair shock from having levels in the 2000s.
Could be permanent damage done tho.
3. Go off TRT to save hair that's left. It seems weird however since I love everything else about being back to normal. Thinking it's possible to get hair growth back in a couple months and then attempt smaller dose or different protocol. But starting over may not be a possibility too. Clomid to get body possibly working again , etc.
I am hoping the second option is s possibility. Stabilize levels and some of the hair starts coming back.
And, what options do I have to help save the hair that was great and thick before. Use nitrozil shampoo or rogaine to help bring it back? Like a bandaid until hair recovers?
Any methods to save hair until my levels stabilize and I stop the massive hormone surge. How long will that take?
Help appreciated.
Thanks
