Does anyone else do this?

sometimes...

But I recently felt a lot more optimistic. I mean, most of us are on a strict regimen and are keeping to it. The bald old man probably had nothing.

The other thing is they say hair cloning is only 5 years away. There's Toppik and hair transplants as well. There is hope.

My biggest worry about hair loss is not really the thin area turning into a bald spot on the top of my head - it's the fear of it continuing. But there's enough treatment to stop it. And with all these treatments there's hope. I mean the thinner area on top is embarrasing, but I'm almost 20 and in five years time it won't seem so bad

And with all these treatments - we may never get ALL our hair - but watching telly I've noticed many people with hair problems. And if we can maintain what we have - does it REALLY matter if there's a slightly thinner area of hair on top, or a hairline that's higher than others? I mean it's nowhere near as bad as a horseshoe, and a slightly less full head of hair isn't as bad as say obesity, achne or bad teeth.

We can keep what we have. We just gotta hope the true cure comes soon.

I mean I felt great in August. I'd been on minoxidil for three months and a lot of hair had grown back. It's shedded out quite a lot recently :freaked2: since October/November (this is added to the expected shed after a month hence me worrying) so it's not looking too good - but hopefully it's a seasonal shed and I've not noticed any more hairs falling out so it may come back. If not there's finasteride - even if I do turn into a mutant as a result

I mean unless you lose all your hear before hair cloning is avaliable, all is not lost. Maintenance is the key.

Just to add an extra bit of optimism, here's some celebs who seemed to have a real hair problem and it's 'magically' come back...:

Brian Molko (of UK rock act Placebo) - must have had a transplant on his crown as he had practically a bald spot and now his hair is full!

Benji/Joel Madden (the twins from pop-punk act Good Charlotte) - both had noticeable receding hairlines - but now have long hair and no probs!

Jude Law - but everyone here knows that

Elton John

There's probably loads more but they're from the top of my head

Does anyone here see a short, diminuative, sad, pale 50 year old bald man walking down the street, and irrationally think "That's going to be me very soon"? Even though the guy is 30 years older than you, wrinkled, a foot shorter and probably natuarally a lot less attractive than you, even with hair.

It's as though I have this nightmare image of the typical 'loser' bald man in my head, and somehow I feel I'm going to become him, even though we share barely any physical characteristics. The natural 'glass half empty' attitude that a lot of male pattern baldness-sufferers makes us ingore every good-looking bald guy in the world, and lets us only dwell on the diminuative type of sufferer that occasionally walks past (normally dressed in a long trenchcoat, for some reason..)

I've read a few posts u wrote, n i seriously think u might be and probably are a really vanity driven self absorbed guy, who is dealing with the loss of - not a closed loved one, not your ability to walk, talk, see or hear - but your hair.

trust me man, get over yourself, u looked fine before, but u weren't all that and your not all that now either but u ain't gonna get a partner (which i'm guessing you want) if u don't just develop some personality n stop acting like some amazingly beautiful bird with a damaged wing.

Isn't the "bunny suit" movie quote from DONNIE DARKO? A very disturbing movie...

not as much fun as

"You are not an individual snowflake...we are all parts of the same organic compost pile" or whatever :freaked2: ...I read the book Fight Club...also very good...I have to say, the movie is better probably. I think the author even said that.

I liked the book better, but the movie is one of my all time favorites!!!
