Is it me or does anyone think that english water is aiding hairloss??? :freaked:

I have many cousins and friends who have come from italy to study with full heads of hair only to leave with thining, lifeless hair!

I have seen it so many times i am starting to believe our water is contaminated!

Also - whenever i go abroad (even to colder countries) the water seems 'softer' and my hair feels AND looks better.

Any thoughts?

Well, we all drink it. That's one thing we have in common. The only problem is that if we were all going bald then I would believe it.

don;t know if its the water, but there are certainly more men balding and thinning in their early 20's in the UK than i have noticed anywhere else in the world.

ever since i moved to the uk my hair quality has gotten far worse, but that could be just the male pattern baldness doing its thing. i do think the weather, nutrition and other factors could have an effect though, but probably not very significant.

hell maybe "move to england" should be a part of a new Big 4 regimen... :)

Here in Australia, I have heard from so many people that when they came from overseas..whether migrated..or to study..their hair started to thin.

How ever I think UK cant be much more worse than Aus. :?

Its probably chlorine and other chemicals used to treat the water which might cause allegic reactions in people

So that means these ppl dont have male pattern baldness?

Or Chlorine and those other chemicals triggers off male pattern baldness?

male pattern baldness or not, its quitepossible that these chemicals may trigger off male pattern baldness earlier in some people..There are causes of hair loss still not yet understood....well its possible that water contains l agents for hair loss but again its possible that lack of these agents may cause hair loss too?..In my country where i live, they use recylced water not from the sea but its basically the same sewage water treated and made pure again..BTW i live in Singapore..well the government claims that thru a certain process called reverse-osmosis this water is more pure than original water...dont know how true...

If your really concerned get a water filter for your shower which gets rid of 99% of the chlorine and chemicals. I use one.

With hormones from the birth control pill finding their way into our water supply, I'd think it would actually have an antiandrogenic effect. I'm more worried about it lowering my sperm count than causing any hair loss. Low sperm count is becoming more prevalent in the UK.
