Apparently there is a possible side effect this can happen people saying there beards have grown slower etc, whether this is proven I'm not sure Iv been on finasteride 2 months and had no change in body hair growth TBH.

My beard still grows in thick and full, though my legs aren't as hairy and I'm not complaining.

DHT doesn't have much effect on body and facial hair after puberty. Testosterone is the key hormone that keeps body hair terminal, without it your hair will turn vellus. Facial hair does not change however, it does grow slower.

This. After been on dutasteride since 4 months i notice my beard grow more slowly

It could slow it down or thin it out some. Personally I still think body hair/facial hair is largely controlled by testosterone the most abundant male hormone by far. I also think testosterone plays a role in male pattern baldness even if its slowly over years in some men, but some people like to argue its only DHT.
I thought I remember a study where they said DHT controls speed of growth, and testosterone controls more the density. Its probably a combination of both though. How many women do you know that have full beards and mats of back hair? id say testosterone is a good bet.

Finasteride seemed to thicken and increase my back hair. I'm taking it once every 2nd day though.

If testosterone was a contributing factor in pattern baldness, wouldn't we at least see slight hairline recession on male pseudohermaphrodites with 5 AR type2 deficiency whom happen to have no androgenic hair loss? Do you believe it contributes to androgenic hair loss only after it is triggered by DHT?

Ah the pseudohermaphrodites. The pseudohermaphrodites, and castrated men are as good models as any but they are not perfect. There are plenty of open ended questions that leave room for mistakes.
We dont know if pseudohermaphrodites have less/more androgen receptors than any normal man that also contributes to no hair loss. Castrated men have huge decreases in testosterone along with DHT. How many men on finasteride or even dutasteride which inhibits near 100 percent 5-ar 2 still slowly have frontal/temple recession? Once follicles become sensitive in men with male pattern baldness are we different than pseudohermaphrodites in that our follicles are still vulnerable not only to DHT but in absence of DHT a lesser androgens such as T can replace it albeit slower?
I dont know these answers I just pose the questions. I think its possible and even likely the most abundant male hormone plays some role.

how are you getting on with that dosage? any results/side effects?

My crown thinning seems to have slowed. Hair seems a bit more thicker.(Idk how far i'm on Norwood scale, but I'm guessing nw3 vertex) Side effects included possible bloating in face. i did have some "brain fog" when starting drug too.

finasteride for 5 months - almost all body/facial hair the same except noticeably thinner in my chest and stomach hair which was just starting to fill in with the past few years. its different for everyone. my take is where hair has been established for years it wont be that much effected - where you have gotten new body hair growth within the past 2 years is more susceptible to the loss of dht

I partly think T plays a role in male pattern baldness because it plays a role in maintaining the growth of body hair. Why not head hair if they are so functionally identical in terms of androgens?

My beard grows a tad slower, but density is about the same

I'm also still quite hairy (north iberian and mediterranean heritage)
