i'v talked to a Doctor couple days ago... he is an old completely bald doctor by the way.. he doesn't see hairloss patience but when i told him that im about to be on finasteride soon, he told me not to.
(I guess he knows a lot more about the drug since hes still a M.D, i can't just ignore him)
he was laughing and advised meto just go bald like a man and told me that sh*t isn't worth the risks.
i told him that i'm willing to deal with sideeffects as long as its not at a level where i can't keep up with my life.
the Doctor scared the sh*t out of me by saying some people can't have babies cuz they were on finasteride for long and that drug kills male sperm.
and in some cases, even if he can knockup girls, the baby might come out all retarded.
i have a little feeling of that he said all that to scare me. i'm sure he gave me the best advice he thought was for me.
i just got my finasteride today.. i didn't take any yet.. i.. this is pretty big life changing decision im about to make right now..
ineed some of your advices.

DID ANYONE HAVE BABIES AFTER TAKING finasteride FOR TIME?

DOES ANYONE KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS MATTER?

PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS/ADVICES

THANKS GUYS

Sounds like your Doctor is a bitter bald guy sticking the boot in because he's beyond treatment for hair loss.

There have been libido related sides in a small percentage of men taking Propecia (finasteride), under 2% is the official statistic. I've never heard of birth abnormalities or defects and men have been popping these pills for over a decade. If there were any serious issues that way, it would have come to light by now. I'm sure there are plenty of men on Propecia who have had kids.

If you're really worried then the idea would be to come off finasteride when you're trying for a child and step up an alternative regimen.

But I don't think it would be neccessary.

thanks alot for your reply.. yeah that's what i thought too.. its been over a decade since the drug was invented and if there was any birth defect case caused by finasteride, then it would have been all over the world.
im willing to go thru the sides.. but i was little scared of birth defect thing..

one more stupid question...
i just got my finscar thru unitedpharmacies .. and it doesnt say anything on the pill.. other fins i'v been on the web says propecia or proscar on the pill.. but this pill is light blue color..
just completely round..(proscar pill i saw wasn't completely round like this)
is it supposed to be like this? or did i just get scammed?
thanks again..

i´m sorry, but your doctor knows NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe he knew some guy who had his sperm killed by the propecia he was taking and then couldn´t have anymore babies but every study i´ve mentioning sperm counts says it stays unchanged when taking the drug and i have NEVER heard of a case of the child of a Propecia-consuming man being retarded!!! perhaps there have been cases of retarted babies being born of men on Propecia, but a correlation has certainly never been reported. what your doctor told u was irresponsible and ignorant! start on propecia and if u get sides (which occur in a small percentage of men) just get off the drug (after lowering the dosage). good luck!
