I'm 23 i have male pattern baldness N2 one side N3 on the other. Although most people wouldnt see it as balding it gives me a huge forehead and makes me look older. I am thinking about returning to university and living in the dorms but i don't want stand out and be the "creepy old guy." I am not wanting to party and i know it sounds childish but i would like to have the college experience of making lifelong friends, dating, and going to college events like games ect. I don't want university to be an isolating experience.

I would be older then everyone else plus i look older than i am. People tell me i look 30. Honestly that depresses me a lot. Is it to late? Should i get an online degree or go to community college instead?

Please be honest.

Also please, oh god, don't say "your hairloss looks fine for your age" without reading how old i actually am.

Hey.. I'm not an hairloss expert so i cant really comment on your situation.

But from an education perspective, pls pls go for the choice that gives you the most leverage in your future career choice. Dont let your hairloss affect your choice in getting a degree.

Just think about it, hairloss is going to set in no matter what you do. Would you rather be a financially stable balding guy or poor balding guy.

To be honest,it's your facial structure. Even if you had a Nw1,you'd seem elderly. That's my honest opinion. Hairloss is having negligible effect on that. Your facial structure makes you seem a bit older than your peers.

u look like a 23 year old man baby to me. i dont think u will stick out in a bad way and even tho ur hairline has some recession ur hair doesnt look bad. but if u wanna look younger grow out your bangs longer im sure it will look good or just wear a hat. but def go to college f*** what other ppl think.

I appreciate the honesty. Can I ask what it is specifically? Also how much older? honestly

You have an advantage in the long run tho. I'm not trying to alleviate the situation or console you, mind that. Since you already look elder than your peers, age won't have a drastic effect on your face over the years as you've been looking elderly since the beggining. There won't be an abrupt change or diminishing in your looks 10 years down the line. I'm not an expert at identifying facial features tho,but it's definitely because of your face. Maybe if you reduce some weight, you may look younger

The last thing I want is to be consoled. I am older than the people I’d going to school with. Just so we are clear what age would you peg me at?

I don't know how your entire body looks like. But if I go just by your face, I'd estimate your age to be around 29-32. Now that's my opinion,it's not carved in stone.:)

It's not too late, and yes, it is very noticeable. You said it yourself.

The good thing about having recent hairloss, is that it can be treated, and grow back.

Non treated hair will not grow back, after so much time.

Just start on Finasteride, and use Minoxidil on your hairline, and your vertex. It is very possible
you can regrow all of it.

You fit my stereotype of the mature student that everyone likes in class. Like a working adult who stalls his career to get a college degree. Most people who look at you probably wouldn't peg you as suffering from balding. Most people who don't suffer from hair loss really only consider cases like NW4 and above to be balding. You've got a nice smile so I think you could really focus on working out and clothing to spruce up your appearance. I would guess you're 25-26.

Thank you for your reply. Sadly I use the big 3 and am fairly knowledgeable about them. Unless you are a rare hyper responder. The medications generally do not regrow a significant amount of hair. They only prevent future loss.

I'd also advise you cut the sides of your hair to a really short length and fade them into the top. Having sides at the same length as the top exposes the empty temples and gives that goofy 'balding' look more prominence. Some facial hair wouldn't hurt either?

Just based on looks I'd say you're 26-27.

Thank you. Lol I was in my pj’s when I too those pics. I am trying to get in shape I have lost 35 pounds from a year ago.

The issue is not that i look like I am balding per say. N2+ really throws off facial symmetry. People notice it subconsciously and it adds years to my appearance.

Yeah, just to repeat what everyone else is saying really: grow your top out a bit and get a fade at the sides. You don't look old and your hair looks decent too tbh

Grow the top out, fade the sides, lose your face fat, work on your confidence, socialize. Maybe grow out a bit of facial hair, and you'll be good to go. If you want to have a good experience, you'll need to contribute for one.

Hit the gym, if that's not of your taste, try to find a sport or whatever. That should build your confidence :)

You have a lot of potential, but it'll be of waste if you don't do anything about it.

Its not the hair, you look bloated, continue the weight loss and things should get better.

Your right side is definitely not NW3... More like NW2.5 and the other side is NW2. Your hair for you age is acceptable, you definitely don't look too old for college. finasteride should stop further loss and you will grow into your hairline. Good luck.
