Does spironolactone cause shedding and how to apply it ?

Hello, I recently ordered and received topical spironolactone form this site, and I was wondering if spironolactone would cause a shed cycle. I know its impossible to know for sure as we are all different but what is the general consensus. Also I was wondering if there was any specific way to apply it. The label just says apply every 12 hrs. I intend to use it on my hairline n temples only and was thinking if it would mess up my hairstyle in the morning. Is the cream greasy and does it smell? I have to yet to apply it and I would greatly appreciate any information.

I apply a small amount to my temple area in the mornings and some on my crown and other areas in the evening then wait 30 minutes to apply minoxidil. I didn't use the spironolactone from this site but I'm sure it's similar to what I bought from minoxidilsolutions. I did not notice any shedding once I started using it.

The thing about spironolactone I found was that it increases estrogene - basically what happens is that Testosteron ein the scalp does not change to DHT but to Estrogen instead. If you are already low in Test and/or high in Estrogen this may cause side sexual effects such as loss of libido and Erectile dysfunction. From what I understand is that those are completely reversible though. You may still want to get blood work done before starting to use it have a endocrine baseline you can compare yourself to later on. Just FYI

Thanks for the replies , and I thought spironolactone topically didnt have any sides ? Also I was wondering if the cream has any bad smell to it or something once applied to the hair. Im planning to use it in the morning right before going to uni and at night near bedtime.

There is virtually no smell that I can detect.

What is everyones thoughts on spironolactone and minoxidil at the same time? It's hard for me to spread out the applications in the morning before I go to work.

There is always some degree of systemic absorption unfortunately.

I agree that there is some absorption however at proper dosage there shouldn't be any sides. It seems quite a lot of people on this forum are using spironolactone and I dont think I've come across any side issues like from minoxidil with dark eyes, and such. The general consensus seems to be that topical are safer than oral treatment such as finasteride which is why I wanted to try spironolactone. That and I cant seem to get a prep for finasteride at my current state because I'm only 19 and have minimal loss. I know finasteride is available online without prep requirements however I'm from Canada and those sites don't ship here, plus I'd rather use the legit stuff for my first time.

i'm just starting to use it once about every 12 hours or so. I just want to maintain my hairline and I'll see how it goes.
