Dr.Proctor - Proxiphen post hair transplant for healing a good idea?

Hi Dr.Proctor.


Im planning on possibly getting a FUE hair transplant for my hairline. Would using Proxiphen on the transplanted grafts afterwards be a good idea to help minimize shock loss, and help the grafts grow nice, healthy, and fast? Would it help with the healing?



I know some clinics advise rogaine post surgery but Proxiphen seems like a better idea.

Yes. Many persons use use Proxiphen post transplant. It makes the plugs grow and may even prevent the hair in the plugs from falling out due to the stress of the procedure, though this is a sometime thing. I suggest you wait until the scabs come loose ( a matter of a few days) before starting it.

Can i ask you another question? Its regarding the prescription compounds in your Proxiphen formula.


When i apply these ingredients to my scalp, will they enter my bloodstream and get into my body? I really do not want drugs in my body.


I know Proxiphen contains Phenytoin, and ive read that this drug can cause some pretty bad side effects.



Could you elaborate on this if you dont mind?

i was thinking of using lasers after my hair transplant , to heal better and faster , and prevend losing all the grafts ... or preventing schokloss

The two prescription agents in Proxiphen are phenytoin and spironolactone (an antiandrogen ). The amount of phenytoin is small enough that even if you took the entire amount by mouth, there would be no-side-effects. These take hundreds of miligrams a day, typically over years. Likewise, spironolactone is not absorbed systemically from topical application. Anyway, in decades of use, we have seen no systemic side-effects atrributable to systemic absorbtion and I would not expect to see any.

Do you think using Proxiphen every night, in combination with Nano Shampoo every other day, is as effective as Propecia for stopping hairloss and thickening hairs in the miniturization process?


How many times per week can you use Nano Shampoo without drying and damaging your hair?


What are the results for the majority of your customers that use Proxiphen?


I cant use Propecia because i dont like the side effects it gives me ( not just sexual ) and im desperately trying to find a way to stop my hairloss and maintain it. I would be extremely happy if i could acheive this without using Propecia and messing with my hormones.

It is difficult to make direct comparisons. However, many persons unresponsive to (say) minoxidil or Propecia do respond to our formulations. We pretty much use everything that we find works. The assumption is that if you use several different treatments that work in different ways, you will get at least additive effects and possibly synergistic ones.

Results vary, but basically are the standard ones for medical treatment, except more so. This is coarsening of fine hair, with a variable amount of regrowth of recent loss. Here "recent" means less than 3-4 years. We generally do not move hair lines foreward or grow new hair in shiney areas. Any fine hair in a shiney area will likely coarsen.

The problem is i do respond well to Propecia, but cant tolerate the side effects.


So if Proxiphen simply maintained and stopped my loss, i would be very happy. Thickening would be a great bonus!
