Dutas leaking!

Not sure how many of you are aware of my situation with hairloss and dutasteride but to put it very shortly I've been on Dutas for over a year now and it hasn't done **** for me including not reduce my DHT.

Now a lot of people were debating as to why anyone would sell me fake drugs that too when it's generic like Dr. Reddy's Dutas.

Well recently I've had more evidence backing my claim that my drugs are fake. My last 2 batches of Dutasteride have been leaking or not packaged well. As in I've tasted Dutasteride liquid once and the taste is unforgettably horrible. For some reason I get the same taste when I put the capsule in my mouth. Either the liquid has leaked out of the capsule or the production process is messed up. I really hope I can get to the bottom of this. Appreciate your inputs.

p.s. @Wolfpack I hope you read this.

Sorry RoyD, I'm not quite understanding what you're getting through.

So you've been taking Dr. Reddy's Dutasteride for over a year now and hasn't done a single thing at suppressing DHT systemically within you. Then you find out that you've been taking fake Dutasteride, and the last two batches of the medication you received have been leaking or not packaged well. And Dutasteride liquid tastes unforgettably horrible.

I'll send Wolf Pack a PM to come help you since it looks like he's fully aware of the situation you're in.

As I told you before, try Avodart from a reputable pharmacy; preferably a local one.
It's not that expensive, I pay $62USD for 30 tablets. Take my advise and try it for at least 6 months.

Hi RoyD. I think sometimes with finasteride I can taste it too. I know it's a tablet and not a capsule like dutasteride, but the inactive coating can still have a taste. Maybe what you taste is the gelatin rather than the liquid? It could be residual liquid on the capsule too as you point out while it was being produced.

I think you should find a different pharmacy just in case. There are Indians on here, some have had results while sourcing local finasteride/dutasteride. There must be plenty of pharmacies within one area I am guessing.

Avodart is a good bet, but some say faking main brand is more common. Either way, some members on here have sent their medication to a lab to get it tested, seems to be the only way to remove doubt since you're still having this issue.

where are you getting it for 65 dollars a month? At any pharmacy I've gone to in the US it is at least double that amount. Unless you are having your insurnace pay for it.

Currently I'm not in the US and my insurance is not paying for this (I don't like to be dishonest) I've attached pictures to show you what I get.

if you're dht hasnt been reduced at all then thats enough of a viable reason to think your meds are fake man. why dont you just go to another pharmacy, maybe not in the same area.

In my zone i pay something like $54 for a package of 60 in a local pharmacy, without prescription. With prescription would be half of that price.

Well for starters I live in India and ordering Avodart is just out of the question because it's just too expensive and I can't guarantee quality even then.

Secondly the reason I haven't switched pharmacies is that Dutasteride is a hard to find drug and probably only large pharmacies stock it. It's not widely used either so that's another problem. I would probably take me a whole day of hunting to find a reliable pharmacy that has it. However I can't keep buying this crap. My next batch is surely going to be from somewhere else.

Btw Wolfpack how do you get your meds tested and how much does it cost?

Augustin you got everything right.

Any lab will be able to check. Not sure about costs but can't imagine it being a lot. What I would do is get a new batch of dutasteride from a different pharmacy, look at what company makes it i.e I think you have Cipla and Dr Reddy's over there. Then you can send it to any lab or send it to one of Cipla's, Dr Reddy's labs. They will be willing to help since it's supposedly their own drug. Research online where these places are located. You might be able to use a hospital lab too. Explain your situation fully.

I have never got mine tested. I use Cipla and Merck brand and alternate through out the week. Some are bought from a local pharmacy. I know mine is legit though not only due to results but I felt the pill's minor sides as soon as I took it for the first time.

I still am not convinced yours are fake after seeing your PSA level being pretty low. I know you're young but still. DHT level could have been a bad blood test.

i started with finasteride for 1 month and then i planned to go on duta on each day (both from CIPLA company), all i have noticed that low libido in both cases , i cannot say much about my hair improvement right now as it is just 2 months .
reason why i am posting here is that i am from india and it really freaked me out after i read this post about the fake drug .

i want to ask ROYD - do you ever noticed low libido initially when you started taking dutasteride ?
- one day i intentionally cut the capsule and it also tasted same as you have mentioned .

i am really worried now ,i am expanding lot of money on these drugs .

vineet I can't comment about Cipla other than that they are a big brand. Personally I've never had any sides on finasteride or dutasteride because they've never seemed to work for me in any way. It's been like taking a sugar pill for 2 years now. No improvement in hair, no side effects. I've done two DHT tests, one while on finasteride and one when on dutasteride and both showed normal male DHT levels which shouldn't be the case. I don't know what my default DHT is without any meds so that's a problem. I think you should stick to dutasteride if there are no sides. And yeah you DO NOT want to taste dutasteride liquid in your life.

Wolfpack I went to a new pharmacy a little away from my house and it was a large one but unfortunately even they have only Dr. Reddy's Dutas. The messed up part is how most of the time I ask for Dutasteride and the person working doesn't even know wtf it is despite stocking it. I have to mention Dutas by Dr. Reddy's and sometimes the colour of the capsule and stuff. Btw the packaging on this seems to be ok so let's see. Honestly I'm just firing arrows in the dark. I've almost lost complete hope of keeping my hair and already considering my options for a hair transplant.
