Dutasteride - Harming Hair Is Illogical ... NO?

Ok... isn't it technically impossible for Dutasteride (Avodart) to hurt hair loss LONG TERM? Isn't it just simple ... what it does... just helps in this fight.... talking long term...not short term sheds.

I myself have never gone long term ... my temples go south badly... I stop... take 2 months off ... go back to Proscar 5mg... much better results.... but doesn't this sound like it's in my head... placebo effect in reverse... doing bad delusions?

I almost wonder ... when I've used Dutasteride for 5 months then panicked and stopped... 5 months later I was ok... perhaps it was a delayed 'positive' reaction to the dutasteride that I quit?

It's just never been technically explained how dutasteride can hurt hair (long term). DHT is DHT and I've never heard that stopping it big time can hurt.

Any thoughts?

personally i thimk you are right on the money. dutasteride, like all treatments needs at least 6 months to work..like other treatments a shed is a sign it is working. avodart is twice as strong and long lasting as finasteride so it stands to reason that the shed would be at least twice as bad...hair loss sufferers are notorius for jumping from treatment to treatment and not staying with something long enough to see the shed through...there are far more positive avodart reports than neg as well as the fact that anyone taking avodart as opposed to finasteride is taking it because they are a non responder this simple fact makes avodart appear to not work because most avodart users are already using it too late or expecting too much.also negative reports are more common because anyone happy with their treatment is not trolling hairloss forums..they are cured and thinking of other things....that said its possible that frontal loss is more related to testosterone as opposed to dht. this would explain why the frontal portion is harder to treat with finasteride and other dht blockers and since dutasteride lowers dht but raises testosterone, it could explain the frontal sheds experienced but i just believe they are normal sheds that would have improved but people panic and dont hang in there.dutasteride worked for me with minimal shedding until i added topical keto..after i added that i had a massive shed but i recovered far,far better than i was..im sold on the combo but it does come with a shed, at least for me.

Stick with the avodart regimen. I've been taking avodart for over 4 years now it has worked great for me. When I comb my hair it still falls off but it grows back again.
