Just wanted to give you guys an update on my progress. I have now been on dutas for 6 months and I have to say that I am thrilled with the results I have had. If you look over any of my old posts from around 8 months ago you will see how desperate I was. I was utterly miserable and heavily depressed. My hair loss got so bad that I actually ordered some wigs as I felt it was my only option (I could not face being bald). Dermmatch would not even cover the loss, and under bright light you could see my painted scalp.

After being on fincar and minoxidil for a year or so with pretty much zero results, I decided to up my regime. I ordered the dutas, along with 5% spironolactone and continued to use the 15% xandrox once every two days. After some great initial thickening in the first two months, I started to shed for a month real bad and easily dropped below base line. I was encouraged by the initial period though and was losing a lot of hair from the back and sides so knew this was a shed.

Now at six months I can almost say I have regained every single hair that I ever lost from the crown, and have regrown heavily at the front as well. Not as much at the front as the crown but I'm still seeing new hair coming through. I could really see around a 90% recovery overall by the time I hit the year mark.

The great thing now is that I no longer really worry about my hair. Sometimes I even look in the mirror and think it looks too thick compared to what it used to and people will think somethings up. I no longer use Dermmatch which I was a slave to for around a year and a half. Its such a relief that I cant really put it in words. Everyday was a struggle for me, hair loss was all I would think about. I read some of the guys posts on here when they are saying how messed up they are with it and think to myself 'you have no idea'. I just now wish my hairline would come in a little more and then I can have a real cool hair cut again.

I don't come on here much anymore but wanted to let you guys know how well dutasteride has done for me. If you have been on finasteride for a while with no results then give it a shot, its worth a try!!!.

Wow thats so awesome mate, I'm really happy for you :) And with dutasteride, it seems you'll maintain that for years to come! I've been thinking about trying the "good stuff" .. you're in the UK? Where do you get your dutasteride from?

cheers .. and congratulations ! :D

Cheers flimflam mate

I get my dutas from unitedpharmacies. I order 200 pills a time so get a discount. It works out at 1 dollar a pill, so about 18 quid a month. I used to get it from inhouse pharmacy but would always get stung with import duty. So far with united Ive got away with it. The switch was purely cost based, its not that I think inhouse sells fake drugs or anything.

If your thinking about trying it I was obviously recommend it, but I see you have only been on Propecia since Jan. Maybe stick it out for the year as long as you are not losing ground. Your hair is far better than mine was back in the dark days. If you feel however that your male pattern baldness is pretty aggressive and your probably gonna end up on dutasteride sooner or later I would say just go for it now. I was on Propecia for a year with no results and it took dutasteride to get things going.

I should add that I still take finasteride with the dutasteride just to be on the safe side. I switched brands from fincar to proscar. Its real cheap so it doesn't matter and I'm not getting any side effects.

This is inspring for us non and negative reponders to finasteride/Propecia. I have been thinking of giving dutasteride a go as at 6 months finasteride/Propecia has done nothing for me and loss is aggressive..now way behind baseline.

Also useful to know it the generic you use and the supplier as I was going to get the real thing even though expensive. I got stung for tax on genuine propecia from InHouse so genuine dutasteride would be loads of cash.

Think I might take your example and go order some dutas from United.

Sounds like you had no sides on finasteride or dutasteride. My sides are high so I had to lower dose on finasteride. My only concern is sides could be even worse for me on dutasteride in which case I would have to reduce dose a lot. I'm hoping as for some maybe I won't suffer sides on dutasteride...hoping anyway...All people react different to each drug.

Congrats again and great to hear your good news!

How come you don't get stung by import duty when you use United Pharmacies?

BTW I agree I think the Xandrox may have a part to play as well as the Dutas... not so much the 'Big 3' as the 'HUGE 3' :)

Pondle I think its a game of chance when it comes to import duty, but every time I have ordered from inhouse I have always been charged. I have ordered twice from united pharmacies and have not been charged yet. I think its also down to how the companies described the content of the package. For instance my xandrox from Dr Lee is marked as 'cosmetic samples' and I have never ever been charged import duty on it (I must have ordered about 20 times from him).

As for the xandrox itself I think its definitely a good product, but I really don't know whether its worth the ridiculous price of 80 dollars per bottle. The only reason I am still taking it is cause I fear my scalp is accustomed to it and I will lose a lot if I stop. Anyway the greatest results have been in the crown areas where I have not been applying it. I have only been applying to frontal third of the scalp.

Remember though guys your probably gonna shed pretty bad in around month 2-4. It was the worst shedding period I think I have ever had, but you gotta look at it as a positive.

thanks for the info..

i've certainly not lost any ground since i started finasteride, but I thought if I was a "good responder" i would have seen some half-decent regrowth by now. I've seen a little, but in my temples not the crown/vertex where i need it!

but yeah you're right, I will probably wait it out till the end of the year and see what happens.

thanks again, and congrats :)

Sorry but I dont have a digital camera so I cant post any photos. Also when my hair loss was real bad I would avoid camera situations at all costs. Any photos that do exist I have heavy amounts of dermmatch in it so the loss isnt obvious.

Pondle and all the other UK guys here, I just this morning got my latest order of dutas through from united and did not get charged import tax again. The reason is that on the customs declaration form they have declared the product value to be only $50, when really it is $200. It is marked down as a health product as it should though. It is delivered via Hong Kong, which is different to inhouse. Also they have given me a 5 dollar 'valued customer' dicsount which makes the total $202.50 for 200 pills.

Just thought Id let the UK guys know so you can get around the import tax, it was around 15-20 quid each time with inhouse.

think before you throw around accusations like that shi t stain. Do you see any mention of United in my initial post?. I was only answering questions from other posters in my follow up comments. It makes me laugh that some retard like you immediately thinks somebody works for a company the minute they say they are happy with their service. I have been on this site for 3/4 of a year and have never once mentioned united in any of my other posts.

don't be such a di ck head!!!!

I appreciated the heads-up re: import duties Thin Jim. Too many folks on this forum throw "spam" accusations around when you're only trying to be helpful. Consumers can make their own choices. But it helps to be an informed consumer.

Thanks Jim. After reading this I am severely tempted to get on dutasteride now... been on finasteride for 2 years and although it has given me good maintenance and a wee bit of regrowth, I think it might be starting to fail now and I have long suspected it's only slowed down the loss in the front anyway.

Have you had any sides at all?
