Hi everyone.

I've been taking 0.5 mg of Dutasteride daily for an entire month and currently haven't noticed the slightest difference of anything so far. I'm aware that one month is way too soon for any results, though I've just been wondering how long it should take for Dutasteride to put a cessation to my male pattern baldness.

My main question is: How long does Dutasteride usually take to put a cessation to male pattern baldness by taking 0.5 mg of the medication daily?

Alright then zzzzz, I hope that will be the case for me, to see a dramatic decrease in shedding.

It seems that those who are good responders to the 5-AR inhibitors usually start seeing benefits at around the two month mark. I'm confident that will be the case for me.

9 months on finasteride and I have yet to see a stop in shedding nor recession..

shedding never stops. I said dramatic decrease, I never stopped shedding. I got regrowth over the shedding. Shedding does not mean miniaturization

An unfortunate side effect of Avodart in rare cases is in fact hair loss! Of course this isn't common but it shows that everyones different and nobody knows how you are going to respond. The chances are it will work but you don't know, ive been taking it for three months and my hair is worse maybe im in a 'shed', I do notice a lot of hair when I wash or apply minoxidil, ive certainly lost density and volume in the front and I cant lift my hair up at the front anymore as it has no structure to it. Hopefully it will fill in soon and my shed will at least slow down.

Avodart causing hair loss is rare, you'd have to be extremely unlucky to have adverse effects or if you don't respond to the medication. Dutasteride works well for approximately 99+ percent of men at treating both BPH and male pattern baldness. Three months is still too soon for full results. I've done more research about Dutasteride and actually, male pattern baldness should be put to a complete cessation at six months of taking 0.5 mg of the medication daily.

Also massa, Dutasteride is excellent for improving hair density and the hairline, it's great for all your scalp hair. As I previously stated, you'd have to be extremely unlucky to have adverse effects or if you don't respond to the medication.

I always say same fact in everywhere.

DHT is not only reason of Male Pattern Baldness.

For some patients Free Testosterone is very harmful for hair follicules like DHT..

There's also some other issues that are imbalanced such as:

+Higher levels of Androgen Receptors
+Higher levels of Prostaglandin D2
+Higher levels of Inflammation
+Higher levels of Arachidonic Acid
+Higher levels of DKK1
+Higher levels of 5-alpha-reductase

The thing is, Androgenetic Alopecia is a multi-faceted problem other than DHT causing miniaturization of the hair follicles. Though, it's definitely important to combat DHT at the front since that's the main cause of Androgenetic Alopecia.

If you add RU58841 to your dutasteride regimen will that clean up other androgens such as test attacking the follicle?

I don't think I'll be needing to add RU58841 or any other anti-androgen into my regimen because after only being on Dutasteride for approximately one month and a week, I'm noticing how strong the medication really is. My hair is starting to feel a bit healthier and I've just started to have a decrease in shedding. I've had no side effects from Dutasteride whatsoever.

That's how I feel on finasteride for 3 months. (Norwood 2.5 but thick hair with minor crown male pattern baldness starting) My hair has gone even thicker, it's almost wavy like when I was growing up. Not imagining it as I don't even need to put effort into the minor comb over. It hangs over naturally and very strongly. Now just need proper regrowth.

i'm also in the same boat, been on dutasteride for about 2mos and for now only shedding hair.
what ur update are? are you still on dutasteride? if so what month are you on? and do you still see any shedding?

with finasteride where had very minimal shedding ,with finasteride 1-2hair per every 3days, compared to dutasteride 10hairs per day. and if anything when saw some hair on sink when was on finasteride then it usually noticed 2 pieces of hair coming out one hair follicle.

Yes, I'm still taking Dutasteride, 0.5 mg daily to be exact. Currently, I am almost two months into Dutasteride and my hair has been feeling a lot healthier. I shed; however, shedding does not always mean miniaturization. It's completely normal to shed as long as your hair doesn't keep getting worse and that miniaturization of the hair follicles do not continue to progress.

I’m a female so obviously things are different for me. Anyway. I took my very first avodart 0.5mg pill on Monday, and by Thursday the shedding was INSANE. Like. Scary. My hair is being decimated. I’m freaking out and I’m only supposed to be on one pill per week. Do I stop? Do I continue? This is so hard

I find this impossible and hard believe unless you are pulling your hair out in your sleep. Here, I'll post this to educate you on the hair growth cycles.

View attachment 71062

You see, there is at the least a 3 to 4 week time period from the time the hair detaches from the blood supply and falls out either on it's own or manually.
Are you female? I know it seems bizarre. I will say this however: whenever I have had a period (drop in estrogen) my hair shed like crazy. I started to shed 2 weeks after starting minoxidil. I shed whenever I use Nizoral. There is something bizarre about my hair which makes it sensitive to everything.
