DUTASTERIDE: Pros and Cons

Im about to jump on dutasteride.

One thing worries me.. the weight gain

How can i avoid this? I just spent the last 8 months workin hard to shed it

The only weight I've gained whilst on dutasteride. is from a deliberate attempt to add muscle, my body fat level hasn't been affected.

What makes you so certain that dutasteride. causes weight gain? I've not seen definitive proof that it does, only the odd bit of anecdotal stuff.

Even if someone were convinced that dutasteride. was adding fat to their gut I wouldn't advise taking another drug to counter it, no one should take anything on my say so. Eat well and take plenty of aerobic exercise, that would be about the extent of my advice.

I have had a procedure 5 weeks back with 5700 grafts. Have been prescribed Avodart by a top Doctor. So far, (in 5 weeks) not experienced any side effects. Will keep you guys posted on the progress. I hope it is 100% safe in the long run.

Slartibartfast has made excellent points. There's no evidence dutasteride causes weight gain, and if there was, why would you take another drug to counter it? Just eat right and exercise and stop worrying so much.

Type in weight gain in search.. You'll find many people who have gained weight.

Because he didn't gain weight.. doesn't mean I'm safe.

I want to avoid it + gyno from the start.

Even if it means popping 1/5th of the normal dose of a estrogen blocker. But I don't know how to go about it
