dutasteride shed

I've been on dutas 2 weeks and the past couple of days I've noticed a ton of hairs in the sink after brushing my teeth, putting in eye drops, etc.

I'd like to hear from people on here on how long their dutasteride sheds lasted and if it's a good sign that I will be a good responder or not.

my front and top.

i know this because when i run my hands through the sides and back no hairs come off. but when i run them through the front and top that's when they come out.

when i brush my teeth and lean over the sink to spit out a bunch of hairs come off the front.

what are the probable implications of this? do you think the dutasteride is just pushing them out to regrow them?

i can also say that this is another reason why i think the dutasteride is real. this shed started a couple of days ago and it's just too coincidental to pin it on anything other than the dutas.

thanks.

college i was just reading about shedding and found out that it typically takes place 4-6 weeks into treatment. i have been on finasteride since july 10th so that would be almost 2 months for me. is it weird for shedding to be starting 2 months in on finasteride/dutasteride or no?

thanks.

i think two months is probably a good time to be shedding,if it was only after a week or two id be worried but its probably a good sign.sounds good for the dutas as well.

im into week 5 of avodart after 2 and a half years of dutas and im still shedding

seems strange...i never shed when i first took avodart three years ago and i dont remember shedding on dutas either....

im scared shi*less now.....i dont have any hope that dutasteride will work for me this time around, which confuses the hell out of me because i was such a good responder to avodart when i first tried it back in 03

I seem to shed but it could also be the summer. Summer is now over and i hope that the top of my hair gets thicker again.
Does anyone have/had shedding between months 7 - 9?

Jacky, mine hit around month six and kept going for the next two. Took about 8 months for my crown and mid-scalp to recover, whilst the front has only recently gotten back to its pre-shed level - I've been on dutasteride for 25 months.

To compliment Slarti's post, and to help answer Jacky's post,

I began Avodart on December 2, 2005. I take 1 capsule daily.

First 5 1/2 months were great. A normal amount of hair was released when combing, shampooing, etc.

At 5 1/2 months, I started getting moderate shedding. At about 6 months, I started to get increased shedding and turbulent shedding.

Well, around 9 Months into Avodart, the shedding has gone down to moderate-minimal shedding.

So, in all, I've had a 4-month shed. My hair had thinned only momentarily, and it's getting thicker every week. There is a spot in the crown that is showing a lot of scalp under bright light, but I'm hoping it will return to normal in a few months.

I hope this helps.

It's about time your shedding died down, now onto stage 2 (or is it 3?) of this great dutasteride adventure: regrowth.

Thanks Aplunk1. Seems that we have a comparisable response to dutasteride. I started also in december 2006 - xmas. I hope that my shedding stops soon. Should then stop next weeks - if it is the same like in your case.

hello,

now i take dutas for 1 month (3 times a week). Before dutas I already took fincar 1,25mg per day. I noticed shedding through using finasteride. than I changed to dutas, because treatment is more comfortable. thereafter shedding was equal.

Its a proof, that the stuff is effective.

I still hope, thinning will stop.

@all dutasteride users that has/had shedding: how much hair were there in the shower after drying your head (after washing it)? I dry my head and then i shake the the towel into the shower (no water in there any more). There are about 10 hairs every day after doing this.
This is more than before my shedding. I recognize my shedding with this and the frontal thinning
