Dutasteride + Spironolactone: aiming for regrowth

Hey guys,
I’ve had pretty decent results from dutasteride (which I’ve started taking in February) and Spironolactone 100. However, I want to reach a Norwood 1 (I’m between 1.5/2) and I was wondering about adding estrogens. How should I start? What’s the best estrogen pill to start with?

It's a bit complicated, mostly because some people do want breast growth and others don't. High-dose estradiol is apparently better for hair while low-dose changes one's figure more so way below the thresholds that I conjecture are needed for hair. I already got gyno from dutasteride, so not a big deal, I’m gonna get a surgery asap.

Those meds are a good protocol. Maybe add microneedling as I have done that for two years, once a week religiously. I think it can be just like brushing teeth, of that small a duration. Retin-A, Estrogel and oral minoxidil are all worth considering. I am on all of those.

Unfortunately Estrogel isn’t available here in Italy, the only gel I could get is the one that contains estriol (which is considered the bad estrogen I guess) could you please help me to find a good substitute?

Retin-A is a retinol and it is a tissue rejuvenator that works great for some people. I mix it in with minoxidil and Estrogel into my topical carrier for neck, face and hair.

Do you microneedle at 1.5mm and do you needle over existing semi-dense hair? I started about a month ago @ 1.5mm (Dr. Pen 12pin/max rpm) and am attacking the hair line about an inch or so back right where it starts to thin. There is still a decent amount of hair there and my concern is that I'm going to take out good hair. I've shed a tiny bit but have chalked it up to initial shedding with microneedling.

I use the very low-tech method of putting it on scalp and hair line and rubbing it in and then putting min on top and combing through everything and then microneedling. Retin-A might help produce or access something called sulfurotransferase which is what makes min effective and many of us lack enough sulfurotransferase. I have used a couple of different retin-A strengths and differin.

I had just shed to almost nothing on top when I commenced microneedling so needle depth was less relevant to getting the instrument ensnared in my hair. I also add Estrogel usually which helps provide a better environment in terms of being less sticky. I have been doing the entire scalp and face and neck for that matter for age reduction and scar reduction and hopefully longer anagen. But yes, I shed horribly when I added spironolactone, microneedling and rather rough massages and brushing all at once, more or less so it's always better to titrate treatments in general and dosages and maybe not massage but instead microneedling. I also get the masseter muscle botox treatment which someone somewhere claims improves baldness outcomes by 18 percent. It's on Rob's site which I have mostly memorized.

I can still see scar tissue on top but it is blending in better and better and it seems this scar tissue is becoming less cobblestoned and more productive. My theory related to brushing or hard wire brushing is that you can't brush yourself bald unless you yank out knots, meaning that the hair pulled by the microneedler is about to come out soon anyway. It helps to hold down the patch being done and do it in front of a mirror so you can more precisely located the areas of concern. Since microneedling cures scar tissue it seems not particularly relevant at what angle it enters the skin. If snagged, just gently calibrate the direction and reverse roll it and the hair will come free. Notice what sorts of hair you lose doing this and brushing and combing because it can inform you about how crappy most of it is likely to be. I have tons of corkscrew hairs coming out, along with whitish hairs that are similar but worse so I yank those on my own.

Yes and neck but my overall stack is really good so it's just partially the microneedling plus Min/finasteride/Duta and Estradiol.
