Effectiveness wear off since Merck changed Propecia's packaging!

Hello, everyone!

I'm 31, from China, and staying in China.
My hair loss started 15 years ago, but that's not too bad now (maybe NW1).
And I started Propecia since last October.
In the first 6 months, it really worked well! My hair loss stopped and my hair got healthier and thicker.

But! But! Merck company has changed the packaging since late 2013. I started taking the new ones on Mar of 2014 because old ones are sold out. Being very disappointed, only after one month treatment, the effectiveness wear off!!! Hair loss continues and hair gets weaker, until now for about 5 months!

I took the Propecia from the hospital, so it could not be a fake. Furthermore, many of my net friends have the silimar experience!!!

Merck modified the medicine's ingredients while changing the packaging, I guess! Due to old pills have a fishy smell, but new ones haven't. And I can feel the reduced side effects while taking the new ones.
I don't know what happened to the Propecia. Maybe due to sides?

So, what's the case in your country ???

P.S. Propecia in China is called Bao Fa Zhi, which manufactured in PUERTO RICO and repackaging in HangZhou China.

there will be no difference unless it is fake. If it is genuine 1mg finasteride than there will be no difference in the effectiveness.

I'll add a caveat to that, if it is 1 mg finasteride and the same brand and nothing has changed in the inactive ingredients, then there will be no difference in the effectiveness. I don't see any reason why Merck would change the inactive ingredients, this is a HIGHLY unlikely scenario.

Yes, I suspect that the inactive ingredients have been changed. Due to old pills have a fishy smell, but new ones haven't!

So, could anyone tell me whether the packaging of Merck's 1mg Propecia in your country has changed or not???? Photos are prefered, thank you.

I highly doubt Merck changed the inactive ingredients.

So you went from NW1 to NW1 in 15 years?
I think you need more stronger medicine.
Maybe Clozapine.

Like I said, I highly doubt they changed the drug in any way whatsoever.

Thank u for ur suggestion. But I think finasteride works fine with me. So I don't want to make a change now.

Do they still taste like chicken?

So could you tell me why Merck changed the smell of the medicine if NOTHING happened???

Could you give me the photos of both old and new packages in your country? Thank you very much!

No, because I don't take propecia, I take generic finasteride. I can almost guarantee that a company would not change its formulation, unless they did research and found that the inactive ingredients didn't matter for drug delivery. In that case though, it wouldn't matter.

I don't think they would change something that made their product worse...it doesn't save them money. The inactive ingredients cost less than a penny per pill and they charge dollars per pill. The loss of customers would far outweigh the savings in manufacturing.

Thank you so much!
Hopefully it's just an initial shedding!
