I've updated my photo album with some pictures that I took last night. My hair is a little longer than I usually wear it.

In some of the pictures it looks like I'm not loosing hair at all, but in others you can see the thinning out in the widows peak area.

Status:
7 months on propecia, 5 or 6 on Nizoral every other day, 4 on minoxidil 5%, and I think I've experienced some thickening where the problem is, but not too much. At least not as much as I'd like. But thankfully propecia stopped my loss after about 3 months. I used to notice 20-30 hairs on my pillow, and more falling on my desk at work, in the sink, etc. Now I can shake my head with my hands, and few if any fall out. So I know the treatment is working.

My hairline has receded a bit, in my opinion, since starting the treatment. Not due to the treatment, just to male pattern baldness.

Anyway, there they are. I'll post 10-month and 12-month pics as well. I hope to regrow more hair in the 5 months to come. Don't we all!? =)

Good luck.

Wow, very very similar hair loss pattern to me, as I've said before. Looks like you're seeing some good results though!

i would say that upfront you're looking much better at month 7

Very Nice!!...and about the "not much regrowth"....think about it like this atleast you have stopped the hairloss. You are winning the game ...kinda like in Happy Gilmore."His bags are packed, all you have to do is send him home."Send hairloss home."All you have to do is drop him off at the airport."

Sorry about the bad analogy..but i just got done watching the movie.

One question though... Why did you start on minoxidil after just 3 months of propecia?

Definately your hair has improved. The density is apparently more in the pics you have parted your hair in. Good stuff.

Thanks for the comments. I think it is thicker, too, but not as much as I'd like. Grass is always greener on the other side I guess. I say that because sometimes I wish that my temples were going, and I still had way thick hair in the center/anterior part of my scalp. I think that's how most guys lose hair. But I guess maybe this way I can cover it up more. I don't know.

I started minoxidil 3 months later because at first I thought propecia was the best thing for regrowth. Then I read more on this site, and learned minoxidil is better for regrowth, propecia for maintenance. And yeah, I had the same worries of being dependent on minoxidil, and putting it on seemed like a pain. But once I started, I realized how easy it is.

They should teach this stuff in sex ed or phys ed or something. Or at least doctors should be able to show people how to apply minoxidil with a dropper. It's one of those things that is easy, but tuff at first, kind of like driving.

Anyway, good luck to us all.

elguapo,

Your hair is noticeably much thicker -- it is a night-and-day difference. Congratulations! By the way, since taking Propecia, have you encountered any negative side-effects, especially sexual, or otherwise?

Bob,

Be more specific! I'm not the best looking guy in the world, but if I can improve on something, then I want to do it. And be honest- don't just be a jackass. Unless you're kidding. Can't tell.

As for sides, I had slight loss of libido and less ejaculation for 3-4 days in the first 2 weeks of being on propecia. Then it came back as strong as ever. Then I noticed that when I wear boxers, I had a slight pain in my left nut, very sporadic, nothing constant. It would last for 2 minutes, and then go away for a few days. That lasted for maybe a month, until I switched to wearing briefs more often, and I don't notice it anymore.

Good luck.

Wezz,

Why not use propecia/finasteride? As I said, I used propecia for 3 months before using minoxidil, and I believe that it halted my hairloss. I literally went from seeing 20-30 hairs on my pillow every morning, to seeing 1 or 2 within a period of 2 weeks, around the 3-month mark. Then I started using rogaine 5%. I think the combo of minoxidil and propecia helped for minor regrowth/thickening, but I believe that propecia might help you as well. And I wouldn't fear the side effects if I were you, they were very minor and short-lived in my experience.

Just a suggestion.

I was kidding. Although you might have a lot of hair for a balding guy, I think I still might have more. Yeah I win.

why is it that everyone who posts pics, while they have thin hair, don't seem to have the emaciated white and crinkly hairs like i do? does that mean my hair is just more afflicted -- the hair loss is more aggressive -- or could it be, fingers crossed, some other affliction that's making my hair all dry and kinky?

serious.
