Does anyone know if this EMU oil stuff works for the scalp...I am having real trouble controlling dandruff, Nizoral and T-Gel don't seem to be doing it for me.
I ordered shampoo and conditioner with Emu oil, and a scalp which rub which probably wont help hairloss but is worth a try!
I don't see many others mentioning EMU oil in their regimes, yet it is listed in gourmetstylewellness.com's treatment section...any ideas?

Emu Oil

I recently ordered emu-oil from a site called uniquelyemu or something like that. I have some crazy dandruff too. It comes and goes, and when it comes nothing can stop it, nothing, other than washing it out as soon as the dandruff starts gathering in the hair.

I have read that a lot of people had amazing results for dandruff with Emu Oil (this was in the old forum posts). People were reporting that they tried everything and Emu Oil was the only thing that worked.

I will report on how it works for me when I get it and use it.

Emu Oil

I got my emu oil today and started applying it. I have terrible dandruff that nothing so far has been able to control. I applied it today and will post on how it works for me.

3 days of use

I have been using Emu-Oil for 3 days, results so far:

As I reported in my previous posts, I have really terrible itching and flaking. The Emu-Oil really seems to work. I have applied it directly to where my scalp itches. I would say itching has decreased by about 70% so far, but I still have only been on it for 3 days. Itching persists (but is getting better) only where I have had the worst itching. Places that weren't itching quite so badly barely itch, maybe just itch twice a day.

One thing I noticed though, it causes built up dandruff to get peeled off of the scalp. I get these tiny chunks of dandruff sticking up out of my hair after I comb my hair.

Good to see you're getting results Mr Clean...I have to say it seems to be having a positive effect for me too. What is the product you're using - just pure Emu Oil? I bought a 'scalp rub' which you leave in overnight and wash out with emu shampoo the next day. It makes your hair look really greasy until you wash it out, but it does feel great after that! Here's hoping this stuff will do it for us, I'm sure dandruff has contributed to my lack of success on Propecia after 6 months...

Quartz, what product are you using and where did you get the shampoo?

I am having mixed results with the emu oil. As of this writing, I am beginning to think it doesn't work because of increased itching.

How often do you apply the stuff? btw, mine is pure emu oil.

Mr Clean, I'm in the UK and used the Pioneer Trading Company.
Their website is at http://www.pion-tc.co.uk. I'm not sure if the 'scalp rub' will have any effect, but you're supposed to use it at least three times a week, leaving in overnight. But boy, do you need to wash it out the next morning!!

I avoid 'rub and massage' products. While I don't doubt that massaging stimulates blood flow, I've only stumulated more loss with such products. Cool if they work for you. 8)

I've not tried anything Emu yet. I've got enough topicals going right now (minoxidil&folligen) and scalp condition is OK.

Recently, I've been getting most consistant shampoo results (appearance-wise) from St.Ive's Aloe shampoo. It's cheap @ $2-3 for 16 oz..

Head and Shoulders 'dry scalp' used to get this credit, but they changed/'improved' formulas, and Poppy no likey no-mo.

Recently i started to apply 3 times a week pure aloe vera after minoxidil at night leaving it until the morning .

So far i really like it make your scalp feel great .

aloe vera is a sode by itself and it is very very cheap .

I just bought some aloe leafs in a local marketand i just cut them and apply it on my scalp.

I will up date results but so far ( after 1 month ) very very good .

Actually I've stopped using Emu Oil rub as it tended to build up overnight and cause terrible dandruff. Anyone know if Aloe can be bought in shampoo form? Not sure that rubbing leaves on my head is the way forward!

Quarts .

Yes you can buy aloe shampoo and even some lotions . but the problems with these are the very low concentration of aloe in them that reduce sharply their benefits .

If you decide to buy some , look for those who have high concentration of aloe . ( not less then 90 % ).

The reason i use the leafe is simple : aloe doesnt need any vehicle in order to penetrate your skin. It is extremely cheap - 4-5 big leafe can cost you 1 or 2 $ that you can use almost 1 month .

And the most important you know what you are using : its a 100 % aloe without chemicals that can iritate your skin. pure power of nature .

the only disadvantage is that cosmetically speaking is not a good one when you use the pure aloe . but hey ,who care if you use it before bed time ... anyway just a my thought.

Hi people,
Bought a bottle of 99.9% pure cold processed aloe gel, will use it nightly after minoxidil and before emu+gse. The gel is odour free and isn't sticky.
It wasn't that expensive, 76 SEK (8 dollars).

We'll see if it will help.

Bye,

Hairs.

Zimmy....I while ago you said you ordered Emu oil shampoo from pion in the Uk...I've also used it a bit and wondered what your experience was?
I'm slightly dubious about it as the Emu Oil is listed last on the ingredients list, which indicates there's a minimal amount in the shampoo.
Also all the ingredients above it are supposedly harmful to the scalp (all the sodium laurels etc) so I wonder how good it really is.
The conditioner is pretty good though, don't know if you bought that.

Hi Quartz. Ive just been using the emu oil shampoo as a pre-wash before i use nizoral. Im not really sure how good it is either. I didnt pay attention to the ingredients, so ill definitely stop using it if you think some ingredients are harmful. I recently ordered some pure emu oil and will use a few drops of that with nizoral shampoo when i get it.

emu oil?? why just dont use flaxseed oil..
this contains about 57% Omega -3 (linoleic acid) and 17 % omgea-6 (linolic acid)
it cost notihing
u can use it orraly an d toppicly

The typical use of flaxseed is as a source of the essential fatty acids linolenic acid (LN) and linoleic acid (LA). Flaxseed oil is about 57% LN (an omega-3) and about 17% LA (an omega-6). LN can be converted into eicosapentaonic acid (EPA) and decosahexanoic acid (DHA) - fatty acids which are precursors to anti-inflammatory and anti-atherogenic prostaglandins. Another beneficial ingredient found in abundance in flax seed is lignan - a phytochemical with potential for cancer prevention.

Studies have shown that 40 grams of flaxseed oil each day can reduce blood clotting by reducing platelet aggregation. Regular flaxseed consumption has also been associated with improvements in the ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids in the blood - a situation which may offer protection from atherogenesis and relief from inflammatory conditions. A number of animal studies have shown a beneficial role of flaxseed oil in delaying breast cancer progression and preventing against colon cancer - sometimes as much as a 50% reduction compared to control groups not fed flaxseed. A clear and consistent reduction in pro-inflammatory markers (tumor necrosis factor and interleukin) has been noted in human subjects supplemented with flaxseed oil.

Yeah I think that's probably better Zimmy, and what veterans like Rocky seem to recommend.
I still haven't found a shampoo that doesn't irritate my scalp which is surely contributing to Propecia's lack of success after 11 months..
I've heard good things about Aloe - can anyone recommend a good shampoo with this stuff in it?

Quartz, ive never tried an aloe shampoo, however a really good shampoo is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree special shampoo, its one of the best ive used. You can use it daily and it thickens hair up quite well. You can get it from : http://www.lookfantastic.com
